Health care: How the U.S. system is designed to waste your money (Daily Finance)

Oct 27th 2009 6:18AM Overuse of the emergency room has nothing to do with the healthcare providers nor the insurance companies. It has everything to do with the people who routinuely use the ER as their primary care physician, come in for colds, notes to stay out of work, drug seeking and minor problems that have been ongoing for months.
I see this everyday in the ER I work at. Many of these people are on government assistance, don't speak english and come in for foolish problems. The doctors hands are tied because if they don't do full work ups and order a bunch of tests they can be sued.
With the H1N1, everyone is coming in at the first signs of a cold/flu, they haven't even been sick a full 24 hours and think they are dying...refuse to wear a mask and cough in your face. I am not surrounded by a bubble that protects me from your germs! The best recent one was a guy, early 20's on public aid, calling an ambulance because his leg was sore.He had a pimple on his leg. He was not even in this country legally. I pay for this stupidity in higher insurance rates, cuts in my pay because of the economy, rumors of layoffs and continously pay higher for my medicine because of this.
Yes, something needs to be done about the prices in health care, but I don't know if government run is the best, they aren't doing the best with medicare and state aid. Let alone what else is going on in government

Kirk Cameron Defends Attack on 'Species' (PopEater)

Sep 26th 2009 7:53PM Maybe there is an increase in atheists because all the deemed "religious" people like Kirk are all either nutballs, cheaters, liars and/or thieves. Look at all the scandals of these ministers and pastors. No decent person wants to be associated with people like that.

Med Students Tweeting and Blogging Patient Details (Switched)

Sep 25th 2009 5:28PM Most medical schools lack guidelines? BS There are laws regarding this, it is called HIPPA and you can get fired or lose your license if you access or post patient information. This should also apply to medical students working in a hospital since it applies to all people working in health care, from administrators to the housekeeping staff and everyone inbetween. the medical schools just don't want to enforce this among their students. sure the students work hard and they are smart but historically they get lots and lots of leeway to do whatever they want. Its up to the teachers to enforce this-but if the doctors themselves do this themselves how can they teach the students not to.

Exclusive: Clarkson Tells Us Why She's Not 'an A--hole' Like Kanye (PopEater)

Sep 18th 2009 6:14PM Weight has nothing to do with it. I don't think Kelly has much talent, but Kayne is just some idiot who happened to be promoted by his gangsta buds and that's how the moron even got to where he is. He has always been classless, even when he is sober. He should not be on any music awards ever again-he won't ever win and so why should we have to put up with his tantrums. And so Kelly isn't a size zero. She has curves and that's fine. Plus size is consider a 12 now, and that's just normal.

Martha Stewart says Kmart is a bad thing (Daily Finance)

Sep 17th 2009 2:07AM Martha Stewarts line was ugly. I never liked anything. And the price was outrageous for being in a Kmart. At first I thought Kmart was trying to make themselves look more designer, but I think that no one else would sell the stuff. The quality of her line was poor. I read an article in consumers Digest about different brands and quality and Martha Stewart's line was ranked low-her thread count was low and the towels shrunk noticably. Kmart stores are dirty and depressing, but Walmarts are too, even with the upgrades they are doing. Kmart/Sears needs to get a new CEO to run the place and higher quality people trained in custormer service, not some flunkies.

'Tweet' the Giraffe's Sudden Death Prompts PETA to Instigate Federal Investigation (Pawnation OLD)

Sep 17th 2009 1:45AM When people cannot treat animals humanely, then they do not treat each other humanely either. Look at the serial killers, most of the profiles of these violent people start out with them killing animals, and not in a humane way, but violently and viciously. If someone does not think twice about kicking a dog what makes you think they won't think about kicking someone down and out. They should do a necropsy on the animal because it died earlier than expected (we do that on humans too) and if mistreatment is shown, then go after them. But...what if the people doing the necropsy are not independant of the owners or film makers and cover up foul play? whos to say there wasn't some other problem. Peta does go overboard many times, but to see the comments here, maybe its the only way to bring attention to the cruelty that is going on everyday.

NIN Fan Eric De La Cruz Dies at 27 (Spinner)

Jul 8th 2009 2:52PM The health care system-medicare-is messed up. working in health care for 24 yrs I have seen countless welfare people getting expensive care for free, calling 911 for an ambulance to the ER for a cold, or illegals getting care but if you work then too bad. Insurance companies are no better, non medically trained people picking and choosing who gets care or where they can go or what tests the doctor can order. Applioed for food stamps when I was in school, told I chose to be a student so I wasn;t approved, yet sat around all these people with furs and gold and caddies who were getting aid. $900/yr doesn't get you far, even in the early 80's.
SCary what obamas healthcare plan will be like.

Cow Pee Coming Soon to a Beverage Section Near You (Lemondrop)

Feb 13th 2009 2:31AM Hey all you menopausal women who take premarin. That's horse urine. They keep the mares pregnant all the time and get their pee. It's loaded with estrogen. That's the "natural" hormone replacement.

Cow Pee Coming Soon to a Beverage Section Near You (Lemondrop)

Feb 13th 2009 2:28AM The mongolians drank pee and the blood of their horses out in the desert so they would not be thirsty. And in India, the cows are not fed hormones and steriods, they are worshipped as gods. I can understand how they would feel more like their god if they drank something from their god. How is this different than communion, the body and blood of Christ?Granted its not pee, but a symbol. Just because a different religion has different rituals doesn't mean that it is wrong. Its not something that we in America can relate to-every country has their weird items they eat.
If you wear lipstick, you are wearing fish scales. And something natural is better than hormone and chemical laced food.

Octuplet Mom Asks for Money on New Web Site (ParentDish)

Feb 13th 2009 2:06AM She probably did this thinking that she would get support from people just like other families of multiples have done. I remember the Mccauley septuplets-they had a huge house given to them, pampers gave them diapers for life, baby food companies gave food, people donated a van, docotrs gave the mother free plastic surgery and dental work and they are featured in Good Housekeeping every year. No wonder why this mom thought that she would get money from everyone. Unfortunately it did not work out for her the same way it has for other families of multiples. If she had approached it the right way then she would not look like the money and attention grubbing person that she is portrayed to be. In a way I feel sorry for her, because she is just not right in the head. I read that the doctor is being investigated. What is sad is that the kids are going to suffer because of all this negative media attention and the mom herself. How can she as a single mother give the attention necessary for these kids to thrive? She was hoping for a tv deal, magazine deal and money from where ever she could get it. Can't blame her for thinking that, since other multiple births got the very same thing. But not everyone can get this, only the select few who get lucky. Unfortunately she is not one of the lucky ones. Her mental state needs to be looked at, should have been before implantation. But the doc was going after the money and the "fame" and attention that he thought he was going to get. Its a sad world and is only going to get worse with people out for fame and fortune instead of working hard and being responsible for themselves.
