Jun 16th 2008 1:50PM The earth being flat and the center of the universe were indeed "facts". But they weren't SCIENTIFIC facts, they were religious ones and as everyone with half a brain knows, religius "facts" usually turn out to be wrong.
Chemistry, however, is science, very much tested and verified science. Which means it is so highly unlikely that it is wrong that anything that defies it most likely is (wrong)
My point is, you can't compare those two things (or any other stupid things people have flung out of their asses without anything at all to back them up) with real, tested and verfied, almost bulletproof, science.
When you do that it is like the two things were equally likely to be wrong, that is f.ex. the earth being flat and chemistry being wrong while chemistry is as likely to be wrong as alchemy is being right.
Didn't mean to rant but these things bug me ;) people sometimes see science as this thing that is just as likely to be wrong as anything else while most forget (and some just seem to be unaware of) that scientific facts don't get to be called facts "just because". They get there through a long time of repetitive tests giving the same results over and over again.

Jun 13th 2008 3:19PM Saying Stan Meyer was murdered over and over again doesn't make it true, there was no evidence. Further, it was never proven that his machine worked like he said it did.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Meyer
"None of Meyer's claims about the car have been independently verified."
"On the basis of the evidence the court found Meyer guilty of "gross and egregious fraud" and ordered to repay the investors their $25,000."
also
"Stanley Meyer died at the age of 57 after eating at a restaurant on 21 March 1998. An autopsy report by Franklin County, Ohio coroner William R. Adrion concluded that Meyer, who suffered from high blood pressure, had died of a cerebral aneurysm.[6] Conspiracy theories persist, however, that he was poisoned, and that oil companies and the United States government were involved in his death.[7][8]. It is argued that this was done to suppress the technology, in spite of the fact complete plans remain available online[9]. To date, no one has used them to produce a working prototype."
The guy was just a fraud trying to make easy money.
