98-Year-Old's Birthday Surprise: Eviction Notice From Her Son (AOL Real Estate)

Feb 17th 2012 9:04PM I am ninety years old. My daughter left me some investments and my son handled them. I never know what they were or how much they were worth and lived on my SS and a little more I had saved. It was time for me to go to an assisted living residence and I was shocked to discover my son used his Power of Attorney and that the investments were in both our names and he walked away with ninety thousand dollars.

'Happy Days' Patriarch Tom Bosley Dies at 83 (PopEater)

Oct 19th 2010 4:35PM I find it interesting that no one remembers Tom Bosley as Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia, That was when he got his first start. I still think of him as the Little Flower. Having lived in NY at the time LaGuardia was mayor and then to see Bosley acting as the Mayor was just a treat. Now, they are both gone, farewell and thanks for being you.

Find the Best Cat for You Based On Your Personality Type (Pawnation OLD)

Aug 30th 2010 5:58PM I never met a dog I did not like but cats yech. That is until I inherited one. Unfriendly, unsociable, but smarter than any other animal I owned. When I had to put Kit to sleep, I got another cat from our no kill shelter. My only requests were---a healthly cat, a small cat, and a loving cat. Well, I got a cat with conjunctiviits, a big cat AND one who wants to be loved all the time. Of course, he is. I still love him, and would plead that anyone who want a pet pleas go to a ASPC in you area. You will save a life and be more able to enjoy yours.

Real Tiger Cub Found in Luggage With Stuffed Toys (AOL Travel News)

Aug 27th 2010 4:32PM What is wrong with us. We are so full of hate and animosity, that anything that is bad has to be Muslims. the story does not say what religion she is, and frankly,"my dear, I don't give a damn" We should just be glad the baby was found in time and will be well treated. Most cultures have strange beliefs about animals, whether we agree or not (mostly not) we have to try to make all cultures be kind and caring for our four legged friends.

Cute Pet of the Day - July 20, 2010 (Pawnation OLD)

Jul 20th 2010 12:27PM If you will check around, every area has "private rescue" organizations. they will generally, have the traps, and then they take the animals. The organizations will spay/neuter and return them to the area. Many times, they will put up the cats or dogs for adoption. Please take advantage and search for the ones in your area. Best of luck and good wishes.

Milk Money -- Savings Experiment (WalletPop)

Apr 4th 2010 8:09PM one half a gallon is about $2.70. Every so often Kroger will have a sale on a gallon for almost the same price. I buy the gallon, put it in jars and then in the freezer. It works like a charm and I can afford to make puddings for dessert.

Puppies used in latest advance-payment scam (WalletPop)

Mar 19th 2010 3:35PM Our Norfolk, VA SPCA is the only no kill shelter in the area. My Carmelito was there for over nine months when I took him home with me. I urge anyone who want an animal companion to vist the legitimate organizations who rescue unwanted and abused animals. Give them a forever home, and they will love you unconditionally forever.

Top Reasons Dogs and Cats Visit the Vet (Pawnation OLD)

Feb 19th 2010 9:57PM I got my Carmelito from our no-kill shelter. He had been there for more than nine months and was just a darling. Several weeks after he settled in the had a bare spot on the nape of his neck the size of a nickel. Took him to the vet, blood work etc. okay. the spot became a quarter and kept getting bigger. Vet remembered that Purina had added a new ingredient to the dry food i was using. Changed food, voila, no more hair loss. Called Purina, they checked, sure enough, the new additive was the cause. Only problem now, since he is a house cat, no matter what diet I put him on, he is now a big cat.

Betty White Talks About Her Two Passions -- Comedy And Animals (Pawnation OLD)

Feb 19th 2010 9:22PM I am Betty Whites age, but unfortunately not able to get around. i am sure there are many people like me. We can support our local Animal shelters. The Norfolk, VA SPCA is the only no kill, non funded shelter in our area. they help rescue animals from the entire Eastern area. All shelters need not only money and volunteers, but food, litter, old blankets, detergents, laundry soaps and items we would never think of. I use cents off coupons and, thus, I am able to help feed and care for the residents of our shelter. Please use some of the above sugestions and help the neglected and unwanted pets. Thanks for listening.

Scammers use Better Business Bureau's name for fake lotto (WalletPop)

Feb 13th 2010 7:13PM I also recieved a letter from the "FBI". It was so pattenly obvious that it was a scam that I filed it away in my Scam file. I know that elderly folk are beling targeted because they are not only the most trusting, but in these economic times are most in the need of financial assistance. Yet there are those of us, who have lived long enough to know if it sounds to good to be true, it is. I have met older folk whlen working for the consumer protection agencies, who cannot believe they were taken, and that it is a mistake. I agree that friends and relatives should be on the lookout in order to protect the elderly from scammers.
