Tough California Law Targets 'Babies' (Moviefone Blog)
May 9th 2010 9:42PM Hey people,
Before posting ignorant comments, READ the article. California is NOT invoking their labor laws. An ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTER is surmising (or, guessing without considering all the facts) that the state might try to invoke the child labor laws.
Bad guys needed: Netherlands closes prisons for lack of business (WalletPop)
May 30th 2009 6:26PM Good idea, UJIO, besides being a good source of money for the state, all legal prostitutes could be required to obtain medical certification stating they are free of STDs. This would certainly be a lot safer than picking up someone on a street corner. I can't think of anything that comes as close to being a victimless crime as prostitution nor has outlawing prostitution stopped it.
Brazen Barack Obama Tattoos (Blackvoices Main)
May 11th 2009 3:14PM Like many rigid Christians, you are confusing the RIGHT to have an abortion or practice homosexuality with the belief that the practice is right. Personally, I would prefer that women who decide to have an abortion be able to have a relatively safe legal one performed by an MD than an illegal one done by an idiot with a coat hanger. Believe me, there would be a major increase in illegal abortions if Roe v. Wade is overturned. Question: does that mean that rigid Christians like you support the murder or maiming of women who would choose to have an illegal abortion? As for homosexuality, does it really matter how people conduct themselves privately as long as they're not forcing you to violate your beliefs by participating?
BTW, are you a TRUE Christian who lives by the precepts Christ proclaimed in the New Testament. His two major statements for interaction with others are to turn the other cheek if you are slapped and to love thy brother as thyself.
Dick Cheney Warns GOP Against Moderation (Politics Daily)
May 8th 2009 2:55PM cashman,
Your comments are totally inane, at the very least. For every incident that shows lack of values among Democrats, I could probably find at least ten incidents showing the same lack among Republicans. And supporting Cheney???? You do know his resume includes being a member of Nixon's administration, don't you? You remember Nixon -- the president who resigned rather than face impeachment for improprieties related to his job as president.
Vice President Biden Forgets His 'Web Site Number' (Switched)
Mar 1st 2009 4:16PM John and Eric,
Biden did not say that FDR went on television in 1929 to give a fireside about the stock market crash. His comment was regarding a fireside chat regarding the stock market crash of 1929 he made after he became president. While my limited research does not indicate that any of the chats were broadcast on television, it could have happened. The first television broadcast occurred in 1928 and tv broadcasting hasn't stopped since.
Hot Seat: Gender in the Administration (Politics Daily)
Nov 16th 2008 1:06PM to richiehartman:
Actually, he won because he wasn't Republican.
Bob,
While you are correct in saying that the last Deomocrats in Congress could pass any bill they wanted, MaryAnn is also correct about their ability to override vetoes. After the 2006 election it quickly became apparent that Bush still wanted everything his own way and few Republicans were willing to vote with the Democrats in overriding vetoes.
Obama Hits McCain on Abortion Rights (Politics Daily)
Sep 3rd 2008 6:15PM janesophie1,
Legal abortions performed by a licensed medical practitioner are far safer than the alternative. ANY medical procedure has its risks. Should abortions be outlawed, abortions will not cease; they will be performed by unlicensed quacks with coat hangers!!! And, what happened to your friend WILL happen to a lot more women.
If you anti-abortionists would teach all your children how to avoid pregnancy by means other than abstinence, there would be far fewer abortions. Abstinence works no better now than it did before Roe v. Wade. How can you claim to be "pro-life" when your version of "no abortions" includes those women who would know early in their pregnancy that giving birth would kill them? How DARE you make that decision for them and their families?
Coca-Cola Readying 100-Flavor Soda Fountains (Switched)
Sep 3rd 2008 4:18PM They could come out with a machine that dispenses 1000 flavors; I wouldn't buy it unless they removed the high fructose corn syrup. Not only is there some evidence linking HFCS with an increased risk of diabetes, sodas taste so flat and blah that water has more flavor.
McCain Linking Obama to the Antichrist? (Politics Daily)
Aug 9th 2008 2:58PM To jblsus - The last I heard Obama had not picked a running mate, so Hillary has the same chance as the others under condsideration.
To Jane Doe - As President of the Senate, the VP oversees procedural matters and votes on to break a tie. Check out the article in Wikipedia.
As for the anti-Christ, my vote goes to Bush. He has started 2 unnecessary and endlesss wars with Moslem countries. He has this country so deeply in debt to pay for his wars that we are on the verge of bankruptcy.
For those who say he's on the way out, he has signed a Presidential Directive in which he wants to be allowed to be temporary dictator during an emergency. My feeling is that once that happens, he will not give up the power.
Can a Darwinian Be a Christian? (News Bloggers)
Jun 12th 2008 7:32PM As I was composing my original comments, I started thinking about the Big Bang Theory.
When this theory was starting to be noticed by the general population, articles were being published wondering if God was becoming a part of scientific theory. Today, religious fundamentalists are questioning that theory as well.
Maybe the problem is not with the theories themselves. But, that, as scientific theories, they were formulated so that God was not required as the driving force.
