Jul 27th 2010 11:02AM It really wasn't about the 'stand-by' position as much as a child (14 yrs old) being kept on the route that was planned. If the child had been changed from a flight, it causes no end of paper work for the airline and an attempt to reach parents or gaurdians sometimes already enroute to pick up said child....The person 'bumped' was compensated, everyone got to their destination, why is this a 'story'?

Should America Be English-Only -- or Speak More Than One Language? (Lemondrop)

Jan 27th 2010 4:49PM Most in the US don't travel or care to so they feel that the USA should be english only. As I travel, writitng this from Argentina, I have found that one or two languages is so much better then english only...having said that and expect to be bashed, USA owes more money to China, have a ton of Arab investors.
When I was in school Latin was manditory for two years and it helped greatly with the romance languages, english is a germanic language, people should have a second language, we should have signs in two or three languages and those that disagree probably live in the middle states and are affraid of 'strangers'. I live in NYC and we have spanish as a second language we should have signs posted (in airports there are) in spanish....
