Ask Engadget: best robot platform for under $400? (Engadget)
Jul 29th 2010 11:41PM Arduino. Very low start up costs with plenty of modular add ons to make work easier. Plenty of support and open source. They have a bluetooth version that you could probably use to pass your video back to the computer but depending on your needs you could also get a cheap wireless camera and have the signal piped into your computer through the receiver. Basic Stamp is your other option. I started out Basic Stamp but find Arduino to be best for my applications (I build small autonomous underwater vehicles).
Terrafugia's flying car Transitions into a safer, better, tamer-looking personal transporter (Engadget)
Jul 27th 2010 10:00PM OK, 1. If you have enough money to buy this, you have enough money to buy a car and a plane. 2. Let's say money wasn't an issue and everyone could afford one. Think about how many people you curse out on the road and imagine them all up in the air flying like they drive.
This is not my future.

Hot or Not: Bodybugg (Shopping Articles Blog)
May 23rd 2010 7:59PM 1. Look at your gut.
2. If your waist is slim and trim you do not need to lose (not loose) weight.
3. If your gut is flopping over the sides of your pants, you are eating more than you should and you need to burn more calories and consume less calories.
Lets get even more scientific. If you are a woman and your waist is over 36 inches, you probably need to lose weight. If you are a man and your waist is over 42 inches, ditto.
This method is free. It's called common sense.
However, if you are so disconnected from your body that you need a machine to tell you what common sense doesn't by all means, spend money that you probably do not have, or which could go toward a better purpose.
Don't Bring Your iPad to Yankee Stadium (Fanhouse MLB Blog)
May 22nd 2010 5:41AM Oh, just break all of them there teleephones and kneepads or whatever. Lectricity will send us all to hell you know. Those moving picture boxes should go to. I still make my toast by holding day old bread over and open fire with me bare hands and when I'm done I hitch my horses to my wagon and go home.
Cracks me up when people are offended by technology. The world is changing folks. Suck it up. Let's say I really wanted to be at the game but could only get nosebleed seats. I have an iPad that is hooked up to a device that lets me watch my home television at the game. In that case, I get to be at the game, enjoy close ups and commentary. Maybe an app lets me order a hotdog and a beer right from my seat. It won't be long before all that and much more can happen. I hate when people talk on their cellphones just as much as anyone else and agree that there is an etiquette that needs to be followed. But, don't tell me I can't bring (just about) anything I want to a Yankee game or anywhere else. When I woke up this morning I could have sworn I was living in America.

May 1st 2010 2:25AM @SlappySquirrel Well, that's a bit of a generalization concerning people who live in New York. I don't remember ever having the urge to remind people of where I live -- the accent is a dead giveaway!

Apr 21st 2010 6:17AM Got my iPad hooked up to sprint Overdrive card. I am in NY so I am only at 3G (4G expected to activate this summer). So far, no problems, works in the car and almost everywhere else as far as I can tell. Can you make a cellular call with 3G iPad? Just curious.
