Come back when you're an adult, can spell, can write in English instead of that text shorthand jibberish and when you've figure out how to write a coherent sentence that actually makes sense.
Everyone in your school probably knows you name because you've most likely been in the same grade for 3 years in a row & likely to be there a while.....and you have a never to call people "dumb"...look in the mirror.

"Passing on family names is just as selfish. It's a snobby form of egotism."
"These are names steeped in a mythology which has encouraged violence and mayhem. Family values, my ass."
You, my dear are the snob, and a uneducated on at that.
(1) Naming a child for their parents, grandparents, etc is honoring the ancestor. Ego is when you think you're so very cool that your kid just has to have your name. I can't figure out how it's selfish, so I cannot comment except to wonder if you are an educated adult.
I bet if your parents were rich and famous you'd be telling anyone who would listen what your name is.
(2) Bible names such as Mary & Joseph (parents of Jesus) and others such as Peter, Paul, John, etc (disciples of Jesus) are hardly names associated with violence, etc. Unless of course you are a healthen or non-Christian.
In case you have never looked, the name Sarah is also from the Bible and is a time-honored (over 2,000 yr old) beautiful name. Maybe you would have prefered your parents called you Jezebel or Pontius Pilate?
Your family must be terribly proud of you and you of them if you look down your nose at family values. Spoken like a truly selfish, spoiled, self-centered brat of a child of the 21st century. I thought these boards were for adults.
Too bad your parents didn't saddle you with some really freaky name or spell yours backwards: Haras
Weren't you the one whining a while ago on this thread that sometimes people misspell your name? Awww; you poor thing. How would you like to be a 3-6 yr old constantly having to pronounce your name to every single person you meet. What if you were one of many kids who as youngesters has a speech impediment or a lisp? What if you're terribly shy and find the unwanted attention painful. Can you spell "empathy"?
Given your smart mouth, you obviously have some kind of issue(s) but I'm guessing it's not your lovely name. You should thank your parents [or at least your mother if you don't know who your father is] for giving you a proud, strong name even if it is from the Bible.
Hopefully when/if you mature you will have some appreciation and respect for your elders and ancestors, who without them, you wouldn't even be here.
It's fine to disagree but it's not OK to be disagreeable and disrespectful.

Apr 2nd 2008 1:44AM To those of you who think 'common' names are boring or just too common, kindly sit back and think for a minute or two.
Until approximately 2 generations ago, in the US and many parts of Europe (maybe other areas but I'm not knowledgeable about them) it was the practice to honor your parents/grandparents/ancestors by naming your children after them.
For generations it was the practice to name the first born son after the father's father. Many times the middle name (for the most part middle names only started c 1875-1900) was the mother's maiden name or the mother's father's first name. The first born daughter was often named after the mother. If the ancestor's name was already being used by one or more in a current generation, another ancestor's name was selected or the first and middle names were reversed.
This practice had nothing to do with not being creative or lazy but rather as a way to carry on family tradition and to honor someone very special in your family. Many families (look at some of the long-time filthy-rich families in this country) continue that practice today. It is a matter of honor and pride; a feeling of belonging to something larger than yourself.
Today people are much more concerned with being 'special' or trying to stand out [TRANSLATION: "look at me!!"]. This behavior has many names: narcissistic, selfish, egocentric. The focus has done a 180 from respect, humility and honor to one of "me, me, me".
Many nationalities and religions originally chose names from the bible: Mary, Joseph, John, Paul, Peter, Esther, etc. These names shouldn't be trivialized as 'common' or 'boring'; they are strong names steeped in tradition. They are honorable names; do not demean them by calling them boring.
Somewhere along the line people started to deviate from traditional naming patterns and, in part, have contributed to the decline of deep family values, ties and a sense of continuity, a link to the past.
If many of you were to check your own genealogy back 2-4 generations you would probably find out your family also kept to these time-honored and honorable traditions. Evidently, drawing attention to yourself or your child is much more important than family honor. Such a pity.
I have a good-sized family and a huge extended family. We have tons of 'comon' names: Michael, David, Edward, Daniel, James, Hannah, Elizabeth, Katherine, Margaret. I can trace several lines of my family back to the early-mid 1700's. The oldest documented ancestors were called: Edward & Hannah/James & Elizabeth. We have 11 unbroken generations using all four of those names. I'd call that very special.

As someone who has worked for years in Human Resources (Personnel)for a large medical facility I can tell you that many times, right or wrong, resumes with bizarre or outright weird names go directly into the wastebasket. Unfair? Perhaps. But we do not have the time to sit around and make sure the resume isn't some kind of joke (yes, we get those kind) or from some smartaleck trying to get our attention. (We have a large psyc facility and I have no way of knowing if the applicant is from a former unhappy/unbalanced patient.) They get our attention, all the way into the circular file. It is illegal in my state to ask a person's sex on a job application. If I am trying to fill a position best handled by one sex vs the other and I cannot tell from the name which sex an applicant is, I toss the application or it goes to the bottom on the pile and usually stays there. This is a topic discussed numerous times at inter-hospital meetings and I'm not the only one who uses this method of selecting potential employees. I'd imagine other business institutions do something similar; we are all bombarded with applications and they need to be weeded out one way or the other. That's reality; get used to it.

Apr 1st 2008 6:01AM Bev1725,
Why do you feel bad? Tristan is a nice name, for a boy. Whoever used it as a girl's name probably never read a book let alone a classic so they didn't know it was a male's name.
Why did you feel you had to "invent" one? Those made-up names are the really dumb ones.
What's wrong with using a family name, a grandparent or something? Surely one name was acceptable (or translatable into English). Naming from the family gives meaning and continuity to the family plus gives the child a feeling of belonging. Small wonder families are not as strong as they were only a few scant generations ago. No one honors them any longer.

That is the great thing about living in this country. You can name YOUR child as YOU wish no matter what anyone else thinks.
**********************************************
What a great thing that any idiot can give birth! You owe it to your child to give them a decent name. It's one of the most precious things you will ever give to your child. You should be thinking about your child, not yourself. You're the adult and you aren't the one who will be getting all the "what" and "huh" questions everytime you say your name. You aren't the one who will be embarrassed and possibly bullied. Your attitude is typical of the current generation of self-centered selfish people who don't give a damn about the consequences of their actions. You have every right in the world to cause your child all kinds of grief just because you think something is cute or clever. Isn't it great! Grow up. If you don't get it, you should even consider having a child; you're too immature to grasp even the basics of being a caring parent.

what do u guys think about the name "Precious Mercedes"?
STUPID; sounds like one of those Precious Memories statues. Why don't you walk around for a few months using the name and see how dumb you feel and how many people give you strange looks. I bet the DMV wouldn't find it too funny. I hope the name is for a girl. A Freudian slip might cause someone to say Precocious... Pity your child if she has a lisp or other speech difficulty.
TO: KiKi & DaDa MaMa says:
ok.....and I thought my husband was an idiot when he named our 1st born son *RAIDEN* AKA Dada from MK (Mortal Kombat) then we named our daughter Kalila AKA Kiki( he wanted Katana also from MK) our god-daughter is Jade (also from MK). Im like "WHAT!!??? WAS SUB-ZERO TAKEN????" These names aren't heard of often(unless u play MK) but they aren't NUTZ...like Superman...are they?
~~~~~~~~tell me what ya think~~~~~~~
Even more STUPID than the first one I highlighted. I wouldn't give these two names to a dog. What were you thinking? Raiden sounds a lot like the bug spray, Raid. The nickname Dada sounds really infantile. A teenage boy is certainly going to thank you for that one! Kalila is a real tongue twister. I feel sorry for your children. You must have the IQ of a houseplant to name your kids after a computer game or whatever the hell Mortal Kombat is (sounds terribly violent; nice legacy). This is borderline child abuse and a really mean thing to saddle your kids with. BTW, if you thought the names were so nice, why did you then compound the issue by giving them nicknames? Hopefully you aren't going to have any more children.
Apr 1st 2008 5:13AM More proof that there should be a law that mental morons should not procreate.
How selfish and self-centered can parents be to stick their kid with some God-awful name!
Being a kid is hard enough what with all the teasing and ridicule that goes on among little ones. Parents giving weirdo names are just asking for their child to be picked on mericilessly or getting the crap kicked out of them in the schoolyard.
Never mind how embarrassing it is for a little kid to constantly have to correct the pronunciation for their teachers, etc. It's very difficult for children to overcome such an unnecessary handicap.
Parents need to realize it's also a challenge for others, such as a teacher, etc to know the correct pronunciation or to try to figure out if a child is male or female. In the business world it's uncomfortable to have to place a call to someone when you cannot figure out the person's sex or how to say the name.
Kids get frustrated when everyone spells their name wrong, because mom & dad thought it was "cute" to invent a "special" spelling.
Parents, you're naming a person, not a pet. The poor child has to live with your bad choice for their entire lives; you don't pay the consequences, your kid does! Stop giving out these stupid names. What's wrong with the age-old tradition of honoring an ancestor by using the name of a relative?
TO DANYELL: you said you've never heard anything negative about the names of your kids, especially Fox? Let me be the first: the names are weird. Were you trying to get even because your parents spelled your name a stupid way? Are you so shallow you had to use a name from a TV show; you couldn't try using one from a literary classic, assuming you read them?
Paris Eats Pavement in Prague -- Big Time! {TMZ}
Apr 1st 2008 4:32AM Someone should tell Paris that wearing dark sunglasses indoors is a safety hazard.
I'm frankly surprised she was anywhere near a restaurant as she looks anorexic; I thought she didn't eat. Her idea of a big meal is probably a 3 X 3 inch square of lettuce, two grape tomatoes and one baby carrot with two M&M's for dessert.
If she would have hit her nose instead of her chin she'd have had a great excuse to finally get that snozola fixed.
Chelsea Under Monica Assault on Trail {Political Machine Blog}
Apr 1st 2008 4:13AM I am appauled at some of the comments here. Shame on all of you who think it's appropriate to ask Chelsea about her father's escapades! How can you possibly rationalize or justify asking something so embarrassing, painful and private? Just because Chelsea is campaigning for her mother does not mean it's open season to invade her privacy! I sincerely doubt these same folks would have the b*lls to ask Hillary the same type question to her face.
I fail to see how it is anyone's business how Chelsea feels, etc. That topic is a private matter between Chelsea and her parents, period, end of discussion. How Chelsea feels is hardly relevant to the campaign or to Hillary's qualifications.
The kind of person who feels it necessary to ask such a thing is either a pervert getting off on the answer or a classless jerk with zero sensitivity for another person's feelings. Just because we now live in a voyeuristic environment hooked on reality TV doesn't mean it's OK to behave in such a way in "real" life.
I am not a fan of Hillary, or Bill for that matter. It is just plain disgraceful behavor to treat Chelsea, or anyone else, this way. Get some manners. Go take a class or two in sensitivity. How about asking something actually pertinent to the Presidential election; that would be a novel change.
Driver Crashes Car While Reaching For Cell Phone (But Saves Cup Of Coffee) {Switched.com}
Mar 29th 2008 4:22AM I agree with Gary, 100%
Many states have laws banning cellphone use while driving but I've yet to hear of anyone [in my state anyway] being cited for a violation nor have I seen anyone stopped.
Cellphone use among drivers is at epidemic proportions. It may be my imagination but talking while driving seems to be even worse than a year or so ago. The actual driving itself also seems worse, if that's possible.
Parking lots seem to be particularly vulnerable spots; they are like free-for-alls. Frightening!
And the texting! Geez! How the h*ll does one drive and text at the same time? I've seen people driving and fiddling with their phone, trying to read the screen I guess, trying to find the right number to dial. Some folks also make notes while talking & driving! I'm quite sure could I see onto their car seats, some of them are no doubt using a laptop too. I've seen drivers watching videos on displays mounted on the dash.
What on earth could possibly be so blasted important that folks have to be flapping away constantly on the phone? The "I'm stuck in traffic and running late" call cannot take more than 30 seconds. What else is there to say?
I'm all for some actual law enforcement and a $500 fine for the first offense. Second offense, loss of license for 60 days. Of course this means the police would actually have to stop someone. Last week I saw the same cop, twice in one hour, talking away on his cellphone while on patrol. Great example he's setting!
Hands-free cellphone use doesn't make one automatically a better driver. There's still the issue of dialing, etc plus not paying attention while talking.
Cellphone abusers like to rationalize their bad behavior by pointing to other driver's poor habits of fooling with the radio, CD's, eating, chatting with passengers, etc. This useless excuse doesn't cut it. Driving while using a phone is a big safety hazard for everyone else on the road.
I guess, like everything else, we have to wait for some horrific accident to happen before some folks wake up and stop this behavior.
