Mar 29th 2011 12:31AM Among my peers, Facebook is an addiction. In the office I use, there's a spare computer. At any given time, Facebook is the site to be seen when someone uses it. I deactivated my facebook account (FB won't delete it, just in case I change my mind). We face a great danger as a species when our social behavior changes as rapidly as it has in the past century. We evolved in tangible social groups. Isolation in space is unhealthy. Too much time indoors is unhealthy. Toys that replace imagination with bells & whisltes are unhealthy. Smart phones are unhealthy. But who values my opinion? It matters not. With 7 billion humans on the planet, we will poison ourselves before technology cripples us. "Skynet" won't be necessary. Just open Facebook. LOL

Mar 24th 2011 4:56PM I went to Australia in 1997. One tour guide referred to Mickey D's as the American Embassy. Most adults I saw were healthy (ectomorphs & mesomorphs), but the majority of customers in American fast food shops (McD, KFC, Hungry Jacks = BK) were teenagers and overweight. It's a free, capitalist world, and we eat what we want. Television did away with cigarette & liquor ads. Would it be an assault on our liberties and free markets to put warnings on fast food ads? Probably. But fast food will contribute to more illness at an increasing rate (all trends become extinct or exponential). Pass me the salt for my fries. BEEEELCH.

If he was acting out, there are ways to subdue him without killing him. Whatever the outcome, the area doesn't deserve to use the word Pleasant in any location names. And I hope the Justice Department will find the truth, and that justice will be served.
