Al B. Sure's Son Releases Emotional 'Letter to My Father' (The Boombox)

Apr 19th 2009 11:52AM From my understanding...his father was in his life, just not there every day. There are pictures and YouTube videos showing them all together. His mother had a lot to do with why the father wasn't there. She got with Diddy and his money trumped Al B's. When kids see this at a younger age, they are not thinking...hey where's my real dad...they are thinking, wow step dad has loads of funds available to me anytime. I watched the sweet 16...The young man was more worried about getting Bow Wow, Chris Brown, Snoop, etc to perform at his party. He was also worried about making a demo tape (which sounded quite horribile I might add) and choosing his outfits, backup dancers, etc. Not once did he ask if his biological father could attend the event. In fact...if you view the "aired" version of the session...his mother was no where around. Yet look at the birthday party for Al B Sure; he has pictures there with him and all three sons. This public outburst was just some type of publicity stunt...he must be working with Diddy in the studios or something. After my parents divorced, he remarried a couple of years later. My sister and I rarely saw him...when I turned 18, I confronted him woman to man...no letter, Oprah or Dr. Phil. Some people really need to grow up and stop using others as their reason for failing. The oppurtunity to succeed is always there; we just need to step forward and take it. I am sure 70% of Doctors, Lawyers, etc were in his same position...did they prove their parents wrong or did they sit there and whine in a public letter about what this or that person's absence did to them. Hurdles are made to be jumped or pushed aside...not to turn away from. The Lord only puts as much as he thinks you can handle. He should have learn a few valuable lessons from his experiences. 1. You obviously can't turn a ho into a housewife. 2. All men (and women) have a breaking point. 3. It takes a special man to take care of those who do not belong to him.

The G20 Wives - Who's The Most Stylish First Lady? (Stylelist)

Apr 5th 2009 1:56PM Yet Diane...you misSpell the word "MisSpelled". I honestly hope your looks get you very far in life, because spelling will not get you out of your front door.

Officer Apologizes for Threatening NFL Player During Mother-in-Law's Death (Blackvoices Main)

Mar 30th 2009 10:59PM I am not saying that everytime someone speeds through a red light you assume they are on their way to the hospital...but if a person happens to be "waved" through a red light, which so happens to be next to a hospital; and they so happen to have their blinkers on...maybe it's safe to assume it's a hospital emergency. But then again, maybe some people did not pick up on this training in the police and military academy. That is basic common sense 101; which those of you justifying his behavior obviously lack. It takes a very strong man to forgive someone who has wronged him; but honestly...was this apology "real" or was it just to keep down the drama, NAACP, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Inauguration Schedule (Blackvoices Main)

Jan 21st 2009 1:18AM My father did not attend for the same reason (to many people in one area) and the Viatnam war still playing like daily news in his head. He dislikes going anywhere with out his weapon. So he watched it from his home.

'Sexting' Teenagers Charged With Child Pornography (Switched)

Jan 15th 2009 12:37AM When your children have their cellphones taken up, the smart ones hand them over withOUT the battery. Because the principal will go through your text messages. It is somewhere along the lines as monitoring the computers in the classroom and library. Apparently, A few fights, brawls, etc have been caught ahead of time....just by browsing through the messages of the ones caught. Think about it like this. Everytime there is a big fight, everyone is receiving a text message saying when and where. There was an idiot walking on school grounds waving a gun on the football field, and a text message was sent by one of the players to his father, who in turn contacted the police. Being a parent as well as an aunt; I am all for parents viewing the contents and phone list of each cell they pay a bill on. You would be surprised how many of your underage daughters are conversing with men over the age of 21; or how many of our children meeting to have orgies, etc. A lot of these things could be headed off at the path, if parents would stop trying to be their childs best friend. Be nosey and the principal wouldn't have too!

Notable/Quotable: Kanye West (BV Newswire)

Jan 26th 2008 2:27PM My deepest condolences for his loss. I lost my mother and I more than understand how that mixed with office b/s, child(ren), drama, etc...can get to you. We all have the right to express ourselves. Contrary to you (Marian Jones), Kanye West is very intelligent, although during certain "situations" one may not be able to see it. This young man was in a terrible accident, yet with mouth wired shut...managed to still "spit" lyrics that put him in the charts. If he were indeed "ignorant" or in your words "Unintelligent"...he would not be called upon to produce, write, speak, etc. Because you do not see the "entire" picture, does not mean that it does not exist. We (all races) have a terrible nack for going off "half cocked" with a small amount of information...rather than taking a step back and asking questions. Find out "everything" and then make your decisions and comments.

Blasting The Blogs: Gabrielle Union Speaks Out (Blackvoices Main)

Jan 26th 2008 1:47PM I am not dismissing the fact that she is out there doing a lot of good...but you're 35 years old; out there partying every other night like you're 25. If you want to be taken as a professional, business-minded, etc; than it's best that you stay away from the camera. I have sat in countless meetings, listening to women who have been raped, abused, molested, etc...yet they do not pose semi-nude (I say semi, due to her having a sheet covering some of her body). You don't want to be known as a homewrecker, yet you are forever taking pictures with someone else's husband. You don't want to be linked to all of these rappers, actors, and ball players...yet there are sites showing you clubbing out, looking "geeked" out, in short dresses, hugged up, booty poppin, etc with all sorts of men. So, to simply put it out there...If you would rather be known for what good you do...maybe it's best to stop showing your other side. Everyone has the right to enjoy themselves, but look at other women in your profession and those that are a lot more popular: Sanai (maybe mispelled), the ladies from the show "Girlfriends", Tia, Tamara, Tamela, etc...Ms. Union is becoming "supahead" by sight. Believe me, I am no where close to hating...I believe that if you are doing good for yourself and giving back to your community...then Kudos! But, like I tell the teens and adults in our meetings...You are a product of your words, until your actions show differently. You can't say..."I'm not a ho"...yet everytime people see you...you're on the arm of a different man. Claiming "we are just friends"...we are all adults...that "just a friend" phrase when out with Biz Markie.

The Noose That Broke the Camel's Back (Blackvoices Main)

Jan 19th 2008 3:39PM First of all "interesting" that is not the rapper "Chingy" if you refer to his very first words..."I am white"...which tells me that he put "chingy" there in order to get exactly what he wanted...an insult against another person of color, from a person of color. We appreciate your showing us your ignorance (thank you).
"A Black Sista", Uncle Tom's cabin was not written by a person of color. It was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, who was not a fan of slavery. Writing about a slave who was given much responsibility by a former master, given to another...his witness and accounts thereof of other incidents, etc. You have me a tad bit worried, when you refer to him (the character) as being someone that actually existed, rather than a character made up of many people who did exist. The book was written in 1852...I do not think Tom (the people that made up this character) is still around...and if he were...he would be a tad bit older than 70. Now if that is not the "Uncle Tom" to whom you are referring, then my sincere apologies.
The person to really commend here is "REA"...you brought it all to the table. Put your foot in it and made it so good, that it is something that quite a few should want to intake again and again. Simply, REA "typed" the truth about all industries and their blatant attempt to blurt out racial comments concerning us (blacks, african americans, etc your choice on what you go by)...yet they do not see "slip-ups" concerning other minority groups. We have ignorant individuals asking "us" to get over it. To stop reacting, reaching, and responding. What you fail to understand is this...We can't react to anything...if it is not said or placed into action. We can't reach (or draw a conclusion) if certain remarks are not spoken (such as...he should be hung in an alley). We wouldn't respond if certain people would growup...and stop trying to intentially cause drama, when it is not needed. If you noticed...all of these actions reguire an initial comment spoken by another. Lastly, I would not expect Tiger Woods to be offended by the comment...as you recall...dude said, he's not black...he's (all of that crap he's suppose to be)...so why would he want to publically say that it hurt his feelings. What he fails to understand is that had he been born during those "times"...he would have been in the same "boat" (no pun intended) as the rest of us. So maybe those of us that want the ignorance to cease...should start with what we allow "everyone" around us to say. Maybe you should monitor what you let your children listen too. Maybe those of us that do not think it is that serious, need to realize that at one point in your life...you will encounter some form of disrespect concerning your race. You may fail to accept it as being so, but it was the reason. It may not be you, it may be your child or your child's child. It happens...it will continue to happen...something can be done about it, but it takes more than the select few who are out there trying to do something about it. How strange is it that Obama hasn't made a statement, because he is running for president. You don't want to be "black" when it counts, because you don't want to lose the "white" vote...*shaking my head while snickering*...something comments aren't worth completing!

Jan 1st 2008 12:44PM I'm so happy for your entire family. I too, was looking into adopting, but I'm not sure that I want to go the "under two or three" years old route. LOL! I'm sure we will all stay tune for more funny episodes to come!
