Details of Facebook's New Homepage Design Revealed (Switched)

Oct 20th 2009 7:40PM I'm in awe. A voice of sanity.

Passengers take fun out of Southwest's supermodel airplane (Gadling)

Mar 6th 2009 5:54PM The unemployment rate where I live just went over 18%. Makes you realize what's really worth getting excited about. A hottie on the side of a plane doesn't qualify. It just made me laugh thinking of all the people who ARE wearing clothes getting them in a twist while frothing at the mouth. (I will say, the birds must be a little puzzled.)

Ann Coulter Hits Michelle Obama's Style (Politics Daily)

Jan 3rd 2009 5:18PM How on earth do these people (e.g. Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Ann Coulter) become famous in our country, and why do we give a rat's ass what they say, do, or what their "philosophy" is?

Palin: Hawk With Blinders (Politics Daily)

Sep 13th 2008 4:30PM First I will say that I'm neither Republican nor Democrat. I have voted in every major election since I have been old enough to vote (most often Republican), but have never really been emotionally invested in an election until this year. I will be voting for Obama because I think that, although he may not be perfect, he comes closest to understanding middle class America's life and wants to do what he can to make it better for us. He has an energy plan that doesn't focus entirely on oil -- which REALLY excites me. I think he would excel at diplomacy and war would be a last resort. And he wants to leave the issue of abortion between a woman and her God.

That said, I wasn't really scared about what would happen if McCain happened to get elected instead of Obama until he appointed Palin as his vice presidential nominee. And that I really don't get. Common sense is totally ignored. Yes, we women can have it all. But the wise among us have finally admitted that we can't have it all at one time. If we choose to have five children, other things must wait for another stage in our life (particularly when two of the children have special needs). Yet it's so politically incorrect to say that we're booed down if we even mention it. But it's just good sense. (Actually if a male candidate had the same set of circumstances I'd say the same. When John Edwards was campaigning with an extremely ill wife, I thought that was foolish.) We do not need someone with divided attentions at the helm of the country. We do not need someone just doing what other mothers do and multitasking. Multitasking? For God's sake -- we're talking about the president of the country. And before I'm jumped on because Governor Palin is only the vice presidential candidate, again, let's get serious: she would be vice president for a 70-something man who has had multiple bouts with cancer. The odds are probably stronger than average that she would end up president if they are elected. It's like we're ignoring an elephant standing in the corner of the room (no pun intended) by saying the fact that she's a mother of five doesn't matter.

If I do try to ignore the elephant and focus solely on other issues, I haven't seen all of her interview with Gibson yet, but in the part I did see she appeared to be woefully short of on-point answers but instead self-confident answers of circular talk. I really did feel like I was watching a female version of Bush. I saw nothing to assuage my fears.

And since I'm on a roll, might I just say that I am sick of seeing people trash talk rather than discuss actual substantive issues? In particular the made-up/derogatory/misuse of names just seems to bring it down to a grade school level and make everyone who engages in it look stupid.

Jerry O'Connell calls pregnant wife Rebecca Romijn "huge" (ParentDish)

Sep 12th 2008 7:02PM Is the media insane? They really need to stop trying to create stories to fill space. I bet Jerry & Rebecca are celebrating her hugeness and he's kidding her about it a lot.

And looks like a man? I must be thinking of the wrong person, because the Rebecca Romijn I'm thinking of is flat-out gorgeous.

Fashion Rules For the 40+ Set (Licensed to Shop)

Jul 12th 2008 10:32AM Who thinks they're omniscient enough to make up these rules? Whoever it is, they annoy the heck out of me. What a crock to arbitrarily pick an age and say you must no longer wear certain things after that point. It should totally depend on how you look in whatever it is. In this day and age to say something like that is plain stupid. Concentrate on your own wardrobe and leave ours to us.

The word "juicy" would look just as good plastered across my 54-year-old ass as it would've my 29-year-old one -- which actually means it wouldn't -- which I'm sure the neighborhood is thankful I realize. :D

Garth Brooks Announces New Music (PopEater)

Aug 21st 2007 5:59PM There are singers with better voices (not difficult) who are much more appealing to watch. He doesn't even fall to the level of bad that has its own charm to some. He's just, well, mediocre. I'll never understand the Garth craze.

Angelina Talks About Marriage to Brad (The Cooler)

Jun 30th 2007 3:57PM I kinda roll my eyes at all three of these celebrities -- and laugh a little at people posting such vitriolic comments from both ends of the spectrum about people they don't and will never know. I usually just skim the first page of trashing/adoring celebrity comments occasionally, so maybe I've just missed seeing it, but has anyone ever mentioned the fact that Pitt didn't sound like he was in it for the long haul with Aniston from the git-go? I saw him interviewed a couple times early in their marriage (I think once was on Oprah), and even with an interviewer prompting him to claim undying love, he always seemed to blow them off with comments that implied he and Jen were great friends, but you never knew what would happen in the future. With that sort of lukewarm attitude, I don't know why anyone should've been surprised at the evolution.

And, quite apart from anything to do with these particular people, lips like that. I've tried to figure out the reason why men are so wild about something that to me appears quite gross and as if they should be a private, internal opening of the body. And I realized that that probably IS the reason why men love 'em.

The Knee Defender: Preventing Airplane Seats from Reclining (Gadling)

Best & Worst: Out of the deep: It's a Croc! Ugly comfort sweeps the nation (BloggingStocks)

Dec 17th 2006 8:29AM Oh. My. Gosh. I just discovered these a couple months ago; they're wonderful. I've tried Birkenstocks, Clarks, etc. and am exhausted after a day of wearing them. Not so with Crocs. Not being able to go everywhere barefoot isn't as bad if Crocs are the alternative.
