Latest 'Garfield' Strip Accidentally Evokes Veterans Day Controversy (ComicsAlliance)

Nov 11th 2010 6:26PM I really don't see any significance of the strip showing today- I'm retired military- was it Vets complaining or civilians? If it's Vet- Hey guys, gals- get a little thicker skin I really don't think that it was meant as a cut to us- besides in the US it's called veterans day, canad I think calls it armistace day and the UK I think calls it rememberance day- that make this an international day NOT a National day

Maryland's Gary Williams: Colleges Can Pay Players, and Should (Fanhouse NCAA Basketball Blog)

Sep 23rd 2010 8:53PM Trouble is that receiving pay for athletics makes them professionals- and subjects them to more taxes- Even a salary can do more harm than good- it would mean they would have to file 1099/yr they get paid-how many college students do you know who can afford to pay taxes (at least if they are on scholarships)

Mojave Cross, Symbol in Supreme Court Dispute, Stolen (Politics Daily)

May 12th 2010 10:33AM Susie- Do you claim American Citizenship? USA? then you need to honor those who start illegal wars STARTING with the war of independence- that was an ILLEGAL war (according to Great Britain) I am a retired Veteran and I take thios THEFT of a symbol to honor those veterans who sacrificed their all so people like you can spout anti military static as an attack against our entire USA History.

Sen. John Cornyn, Other Republicans Want Money Back from Gov. Charlie Crist (Politics Daily)

Apr 29th 2010 8:42PM Who is to say that Crist isn't just pulling a Spectre? Spectre changed from Rep to DEM, now Crist is switching from Rep to IND. Maybe the REPs are just making smoke screens and when/IF Crist get elected he'll return to the REPs. Politicians- INS, DEM AND REP as a RULE are liars- They all promise the world, but deliver SQUAT!! Do NOT insult MY inteligence by trying to convince me that ANY politician does what they promise- their promises are as hollow as a vacant cave or an unmanned mine shaft

Fury Erupts Over H1N1 Shots for Prisoners (Sphere Lite)

Oct 29th 2009 12:14PM my thoiughts- the prisoners should take a back seat because OUR tax dollars are paying their room and board- vaccinate the prison guards who may be high risk, the inmates offer NOTHING to the state they are incarcerated in, while the average working person does. we the taxpayers are paying for both our OWN vaccinations PLUS the vaccinations of people we neither know nor probably WANT to know- I say it is wrong to put prisoners on pedestals!!!!

Are VA Loans Working for Troops? (Rented Spaces)

Oct 17th 2009 11:37AM My VA loan is worth a whopping 25,000.00 even in 1986 when I was issued it that would not have bought a immediate move-in home- besides which the Realtor frowns upon the VA loans, I guess they figured that veterans are less trustworthy than non veterans OR they don't trust the US Government to make good - go figure- the veterans are the ones who protect(ed) the Realtor rights to do business, yet they are not credit worthy?
