Ask TUAW: Apple pricing, which cat is which, and laptop batteries you can't replace (TUAW.com)
Apr 5th 2011 12:07AM never send products to Gazelle or other similar rip off sites. Sell stuff on ebay or craigslist and double your money.
Want a job at Apple? Here's how to get it (TUAW.com)
Feb 6th 2011 11:30AM What a dumb reply. You sound as if you worked at the retail level, not corporate. ALL retail positions no matter what the company don't pay much, the job is easy and doesn't require much skill. YES, even as you move up to low level corporate, you're only going to make $16 HR as a "contractor", but after 12-18 months (and you're good) you can be hired by Apple for a salary.

The benefit of working for Apple is not the pay, it's the relationships you build, the skills you obtain, it's the journey that becomes the reward.

So quit complaining... with that attitude you wouldn't last long at Apple so learn Apple has never been about "money", it's all about changing the world. Nuff said...
Average Apple salary is only $46k (TUAW.com)
Jan 20th 2011 6:20PM I worked for Apple off and on for about a decade, "pay" has never been the focus, it's about working there and mingling. I started as contract at 22K, got 26K as an employee, then about 4 years later made 65K! Then it was deemed I was doing too well, and then I was back on the streets. (don't ever do well inside Apple or you will be fired) Keep silent, your head down.
Apple is NOT the place to get rich by working, sure there are a few 1000 employees that make $200K and far more, but the vast majority make $46K on average, so this article seems accurate.
Rumor: Best Buy stores to add more Apple products, get Genius Bars (TUAW.com)
Jan 10th 2011 9:08PM but keep in mind, Apple isn't about "selling more product", they focus on quality and having high customer satisfaction... so cutting prices would make zero sense.... that's just not a good way to run a business.
Apple shutting down Mac OS X Downloads section of Apple.com on Jan. 6, 2011 (TUAW.com)
Dec 21st 2010 10:59AM Yep, this is another step in locking down the MacOS. I predict in less than 5 years you will no longer be able to install any Mac program without going through Apple's orifice. Another sad day for the original vision of Apple.
Safest Neighborhoods in America's Top Cities 2010 (WalletPop)
Nov 23rd 2010 1:29AM Yes, remember Texas is a conservative state so of course the cities are in disrepair, crime ridden, etc. Houston doesn't even have "zoning" so it's a hairball of a city. Not really part of Texas, but the city of Austin does well, but it's a liberal town so that figures. They just built the highest residential tower west of the Mississippi at 56 stories, the Austonian... impressive.
New MacBook Air has many batteries, few hard drives (TUAW.com)
Oct 16th 2010 9:37PM HDMI is to too slow to support high res compter screens. HDMI is fine for television since there aren't that many pixels, but when you get something like a 27-30 Apple display, HDMI is laggy.
TUAW Brainfark: Build or buy your own iPad mockup and fool your friends (TUAW.com)
Jan 28th 2010 8:50PM The shipping mockup doesn't use Apple's images.
Found Footage: The Story of Macintosh (TUAW.com)
Jan 18th 2010 11:57AM I have an entire set of these "lost Apple tapes" on 8 DVD for those who are interested. A screenshot of all of them is here:
http://homepage.mac.com/amcintosh/ebay/histset1-8.jpg
They are about 11 hours long, full screen and even have Apple Tablet dreams that I assure people haven't seen before. (see DVD 2)
Contact me at amcintosh @ mac.com if interested.
Found on eBay: An original Apple-1 with wonderful documentation (TUAW.com)
Nov 18th 2009 11:14PM The Steven Jobs signature on a document like that is worth about $6,000, the Apple I, about $32,000 (only about 300 were made)... the rest about $4,000, so his price is a bit high.
But it's a fairly good investment once Woz & Jobs are gone.
