Starbucks prices up, and down, too (WalletPop)

Aug 22nd 2009 2:33AM I agree with you, Caitlyn, about the consistency of Starbuck's coffee, although not so much with paying $10.00 for a "cuppa". I have 3 stores within a 2-mile radius of my home. One is great, one is mediocre and the third is horrible. The great store also has nice staff, so that's the one I patronize, even though it is the least convenient to get to. The mediocre store also has nice staff - most of the time. The one with the horrible coffee is also the one with the least pleasant staff. I am constantly surprised they manage to stay in business.

Musical Condoms Right Around the Corner (Switched)

Dec 9th 2008 8:49PM the music of our bodies making love is enough. those sounds are more arousing than song could be. it's all I want to hear.

Stock up on turkeys now before prices go up after holidays (WalletPop)

Nov 19th 2008 10:08PM Not a commercial, but . . . Trader Joe's has large grade A eggs for $1.19 per dozen and milk for almost $1.00 less per gallon than supermarket. The prices are out there, but it takes research and planning to get them.

PC Magazine Closing Print Edition, Staying Online Only (Switched)

Nov 19th 2008 4:22PM This is a great tragedy! The end of civilization as we know it! The sky is falling!
Once the current supply is gone, where will Doctor's offices get two and three-year old magazines for their patients to read?
Whatever will we do?

Target pushes aggressive price cuts (WalletPop)

Nov 19th 2008 4:15PM Well said, Madison. I agree, and have been laughing my socks off at poster who said they were French owned. We still call it "tar-jay," just like we call others "wally-world," "mickey D's", "yack-in-the-sack," and so-forth. (There are, I have no doubt, dozens of such names.) It's just a "thang." Thanks for clarifying it.

Racists React to Obama Victory (Politics Daily)

Nov 13th 2008 8:28PM I believe the United States of America would be better off without the hyphen. That little mark is a real trouble-maker!

What will it take to get people to drop the " _______ - American," and become just "American"? People insist on being African-American, Asian-American, Mexican-American, etc. And what's worse, they put the African/Asian/Mexican/etc. AHEAD of being an "American." Nothing should come before, or be more important than, being an American.

You don't hear people of European extraction say, "I am Irish-American," or German-American, or French-American, etc. I have never been able to figure out why the difference.

The only thing that matters is living in peace with each other within our borders. We should strive for domestic harmony at any cost. Dropping the hyphen would be a good step toward that goal - and it doesn‘t cost one penny.

Just sign me, Scottish-English-German-American.

If your fast food wasn't fast enough, here comes the Whopper Bar (WalletPop)

Oct 9th 2008 7:21AM It may very well be "a recipe for potential gastronomic disaster;" however, it also has the potential for economic success, even with the higher prices. The idea of customizing food for the area in which it is being sold sounds like a practical way to increase sales. Moreover, the convenience is appealing for shoppers who just want to grab a bite without losing their stride. One disappointment - when I read the headline, I thought of "bar" in the sense of an establishment that serves alcoholic beverages. Now THAT would be a novel idea: if these places could serve beer and wine with the Whoppers.

Is Your Date Into You? (Personal Articles)

Aug 24th 2008 12:54AM Marty, since you asked: You might try NOT having sex with your next date. Wait until you both get over the jitters and newness of the first dozen dates are so before you decide if this person is remaining true to himself. If it seems he has changed, then you have not lost anything but time. Having sex changes a relationship in a big way. It will always be there, so be patient. Perhaps by waiting, you might even find yourself getting married. My Grannie used to say, "Why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free?" Just a thought.
