Feb 6th 2008 3:13AM Whats next? Exterminate us? As someone who has been overweight my whole life...(and this is directed to
vesta...), I can tell you that there IS A GENETIC BASIS FOR OBESITY! Why would anyone choose to be discrminated against in this way? There are thyroid and metabolic disorders and if people would read (particularly medical books), they would know this. I am NOT speaking of someone who was relatively thin his/her whole life and then suddenly packs on weight. I AM speaking of a lifelong heavy person with the BMI over 30 or 40 or whatever the heck it is these days....vesta, you also made the comment that "obese people need to stop blaming food stamps and be responsible" BUT do you really think that someone with an addiction to alcohol or drugs is "RESPONSIBLE" for his/her addiction? This is the same as saying they are and yet-time and time again, it has been MEDICALLY PROVEN that addiction TOO is something thats not they're fault! It is a disease and also genetic. As for the issue at hand, the governor of Mississippi appears DELUSIONAL! For the other percentage of people who haven't had a "LIFELONG WEIGHT ISSUE" and given they're obesity IS from a mass "consumption of food"-then they should have EVERY RIGHT to eat what and how much they want. To tell people that work hard for they're money they can't spend it somewhere or on a certain thing is absurd! There is already enough dictatorship in this country. Where oh where, is the VOICE OF REASON?!
