Oct 17th 2007 9:39PM I am an American Indian and not only myself, but my entire family agree that it is a crime to take away mascots for no other reason then "they are offensive to Indians." I'm not in the least offended by the use of the word Chief, Indian, Injun, Warrior, Brave, Squaw, OR any other term that YOU think is offensive. Get over it and move on! I love being indian and love that someone thought enough about my ancestors spirit and worthiness as a whole, to forever honor them as the leader of thier team, school or organization. What is even more wonderful is that, except for the Irish and the Spanish, I can't think of any other mascot that represents a race of people, and we are HONORED to have LOTS and LOTS of them! GO BRAVES, INDIANS, WARRIORS, Hell, I'll even say REDSKINS, and I'm a COWBOY FAN!
Can't we all just get along by doing our own thing and not worrying about what someone else does and whether WE think it offensive! Maybe everyone will have to stop saying "Brother" because we Indians call each other brother and therefore, it will be offensive for you to call me that, just like the n word, see I'm not even allowed to write it, but they call each other that CONSTANTLY! Clean up your own backyard before you worry about mine!
