Dec 10th 2010 7:55AM I don't get your logic here. Why is the person with the dog on a leash at blame? They were doing what they were supposed to do. The poodle was not on a leash and was the agressor. Have you ever walked a bigger dog? Pulling it back (if you can) would not have stopped the poodle. As a matter of fact it would have probably emboldened the little dog to continue the attack. The owners of the poodle should have kept it under control if they didn't want it hurt. Most with bigger dogs know their responsibility, unfortunately many small dog owners don't and I'm speaking from experience. Ask any Postal person. Small dogs are most always MUCH more agressive than bigger dogs. It's as if, because of their size, they feel they have to prove themselves or something.

Dec 9th 2010 10:12PM Let's hope you do a better job of controling your poodle than these people did, otherwise ot could end up the same way. You talk controling your pet ... that's a two way street and in this case the poodle wasn't.

Dec 9th 2010 9:39PM I have two labs. They are sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. I walk them two miles every day on leashes. This little dog in the neighborhood (weighs maybe 5 pounds) sometimes comes running at them growling barking and nipping at them like it wants to tear them up. This is in the street a few houses down from the owners house. Normally, I would chase it off. But once my female (who loves meeting and playing with other dogs) nipped at it when it came at her and now it stays back from them but still agressively barks and growls. Eventually that dog will choose the wrong dog to attack and will end up the same way this poodle did. I'm sure it's owner will be upset about it, but if he/she would keep control of their dog, they wouldn't have to worry about it. Many small dogs are very agressive ... just because they are small, doesn't make it OK and it doesn't make it the fault of the Husky or it's owner when the dog protects itself and/or it's master. It makes the poodle unwise for attacking a dog 20x's it's size and the owners of the poode unwise for not keeping control of it. Dogs do not reason like we do and to them a threat is a threat no matter the size and they handle it instinctively, unless they have had extensive training not to. That doesn't make it dangerous. Had my Labs wanted to, they could have that little pesk for lunch, but they didn't. Unfortunately, someday that dog will try it with a dog that hasn't had the training or demeaner my dogs have and will end up like the poodle.
