Obama Urged to Keep Talking to Political Rivals (Politics Daily)

Jan 30th 2010 7:08PM It's nice to know that everyone has an opinion and can express it here. While I don't know if Obama (or 20 Obamas and 20 Mcains) can fix all our economic woes, I am quite sure that it is an uphill battle that Soloman himself would be queezy to undertake. I for one am not unhappy about Obamas job performance. I am really unhappy that the other children in congress don't play well together. PLEASE stop fighting each with other. Here's a newsflash. NONE OF YOU ARE THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE! Your job is to put the PEOPLE you represent ahead of your petty bickering.
I can guarentee that if your personal wealth was tied to your job performance for helping the people of the USA you all would be penniless!
JUST DO YOUR DAMN JOB!

Should America Be English-Only -- or Speak More Than One Language? (Lemondrop)

Jan 26th 2010 11:27PM While there are many people from all over coming here for vacations that could use the help because they don't speak English, I'd like to focus on those that live here. If I moved to France to live and raise my family I'd learn French as best I can. I expect that respect in return. I'm not saying that anyone leave their heritage behind. I am saying that I don't expect to press 2 for English. I expect people that want to take advantage of all the things that the US offers show the respect I would give them.

Why Burqas Are Just Fine for France and America (Politics Daily)

Jan 26th 2010 10:05PM I'm sorry if wearing a burqa is "part of religion" for some women. I see it very differently. There are various religions that wear different clothes, caps, hats, hair, or some other outfit or hair style even. To my knowledge none of these are anything more than what man has made of his religion, period. No other sect or people ask, demand, or expect someone to cover their face for any reason. And just to be fair I have to say the Pope's fence post digger hat is ridiculous too.
There was a woman in NJ that wanted a drivers license but refused to remove her burqa for the required picture and tried to make it into some religious persecution. No problem miss, the bus stop is over there!
Sorry, but even a tolerant people can say ENOUGH!!!
If I lived in their country I'd have to live by their rules or I'm sure I'd wind up getting flogged or jailed for a long time.
They have the personal freedom to live where they feel comfortable. If that isn't in France or the USA, so be it.

U.S., Britain Shut Embassies in Yemen After Threat (Politics Daily)

Jan 3rd 2010 10:55AM While I'm no expert in this fight we are in, I can't help but think of Viet Nam. We fight people that hide within the general population. How can there be a victory of any kind unless it's left mostly to the people of that country to protect their own? I look at these fanatics and I see brutality and twisted justifications that go far beyond what I would ever want to admit is part of the human race.
Beheadings, stonings, unwillingness to treat women as equals or even let them go to school or be seen without covering from head to toe.
How in the world can we in the US expect to change a culture that has been so repressive and diametrically opposed to the rest of the world for centuries? Whether it's Muslims,Catholics (and yes, they have a dark past too) or any other fanatical ideology be brought into the fold of people that simply nurture those traits that humans believe in as good and wholesome? I don't see it being at the end of a gun. That we need to protect the free world is understandable. We in the US cannot and should not ever be expected to carry this banner alone. Any country that does not join in this with us, side by side, should not expect our protection. Our blood is being spilled as is the blood of the non-fanatical people of these countries. They need to be the wind of change.

Important credit card rate change notices disguised as junk mail (WalletPop)

Dec 28th 2009 8:59AM I'll choose to opt out and let them keep their card. BTW, my accountant tells me that Uncle Sam will now let them charge you 33.9% if your late.
I find it interesting that the card companies can charge that but if I loan my "friend" money at that rate I can go to jail for the same interest.
On a related note... I think any bank that got bailed out should work with people in trouble by stopping mortgage payments for 3 months as long as the home owner can prove they are putting 1/2 the mortgage payment in the bank as an emergency fund for future mortgage payments. After the 3 months are up, the mortgage resumes 2% lower for the rest of the term.
I believe it's better to help people keep their house then loose it all. Is any of this going to happen? NO! Banks are short sighted and answer to investors TODAY. While I don't pretend to be an accountant, I think simple common sense has been lost when it comes to such large numbers and overpaid execs.

Obama Rebuts 'Grumbling' from African-American Supporters (Politics Daily)

Dec 22nd 2009 7:15PM Ooops... Let me try that again...
"The CBC members cited a number of areas they wanted Obama to focus on, including efforts to reduce foreclosures and to provide more aid to banks that lend to African-Americans."

Now let me see if I have this right. Glover is basically asking Obama to be a racist. To help one race over another, instead of helping EVERYONE. It's interesting that some African American is now asking for racism when it suits him. I'm just an old carpenter just scraping by like everyone else, and not doing well at it I might add.
Do I think everything is fair? NO! Do I get any help if I can't pay my bills? NO! Do I ask for more help then anyone else in my shoes whether they are white, black, pink or yellow? NOOOOOOoooooooo! It's damn easy to see it as a sense of entitlement for a terrible past that some have even today. I have some news for ya. Anyone here can make their own mistakes and their own better future.
I for one give everyone a fair deal. What they do with it is up to them. And I expect that from my president. I wouldn't want his job and I can only hope the good 'ol boys in Washington stop wheeling and dealing long enough to think of the whole country instead of their own little corner so they can get re-elected. Now THAT would be a step in the right direction!

Bandit Bourse? Somali pirates hijack oil tanker, organize 'stock market' (Daily Finance)

Dec 1st 2009 5:17PM Let me see if I have this right. After realizing there are pirates there I send a damn oil tanker worth millions through there with NO SECURITY. Then I get angry my tanker got attacked and pay a ransom to get it and the crew back.
I hope every family sues the crap out of the company and then hands over the owner to the pirates so he can see what it's like from the crews point of view.
Then MAYBE someone will have the balls to shoot every pirate on sight and be done with these punks once and for all.

John Kerry's Daughter Arrested on Suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (Politics Daily)

Nov 19th 2009 7:47PM JESUS CHRIST ON A POGO STICK!!!!!!!!!
(Now that I have your attention)
So his daughter gets in a bit of trouble and every idiot has to turn it into president bashing, national debt, describing what they think should happen to her
How about people make mistakes and young people make more mistakes. No one was hurt and nobody writing here was there to actually know what exactly happened. And it's REALLY EASY to be an armchair quarterback when everyone has to just type. Anyone reading the story and commenting like they are all knowing obviously lives in a glass house without a crack in it because they are perfect.
Get over your righteous indignation and grandstanding.
As for me, I hope there's a lesson learned by a young driver. CASE CLOSED
