Texas House approves nation's fastest speed limit at 85 mph (Autoblog)
Apr 8th 2011 3:06PM Gee, that would allow me to cruise in my 'Vette at just a pip below half throttle (and still get nearly 30 mpg [EPA 28 MPG Highway but my car does better than that]).
Twin-Turbo Corvette flips while going 230 MPH at Texas Mile (Autoblog)
Mar 31st 2011 9:00PM I'll just remain satisfied with my 400 HP convertible model that will make 185. That's more speed than I will ever need.
Ohio Teen Creates 'Manly' Candles in Pizza and Bacon Scents (Just So You Know)
Mar 18th 2011 8:12PM And your point is...? There are some people who can't stand some of the "girly" scents. At least my wife is considerate and checks with me when she finds a new scent before flooding the house with something that turns my stomach. Just as I don't drag lawn chemicals, gasoline, oil or paint soaked rags into the house for her to have to tolerate. Pepperoni pizza would be my choice.
Scammers Take Advantage of Middle East Crisis with Email Cons (WalletPop)
Feb 26th 2011 12:53AM Oh, believe it. There are people who need to have leather mittens permanently chained around their wrists. They seem to believe that everything that comes over the Internet or from a friend by email just has to be true. It is incredible that there are so many fracking stupid people in this world. Its a wonder how they were able to find a job that paid them enough money to obtain a computer in the first place.
Pepsi's New 'Skinny Can' Opens Big, Fat Brouhaha (WalletPop)
Feb 11th 2011 11:20PM Skinny can? You must be kidding me. They are nothing new. I bought skinny cans of Pepsi and Coke in Korea in 1995. They are 2" in diameter, about 5 1/4" tall and contain 250 ml.
Five visitation travel tips for divorced dads (Gadling)
Feb 7th 2011 10:24AM Sorry, you just didn't get it. The advice was for the visiting parent to leave early from their domicile to get to the child/children's domicile in plenty of time; i.e., to not be late.
All of the article's advice is fine as long as the custodial parent does not throw every obstacle she can think of in the way of the visitation or phone call such as moving the children thousands of miles away and making sure they are not available to receive phone calls. There ought to be a special place in Hell for those type of women (and for abusive men, too).
Caller I.D. Spoofing: Don't Believe the Number Showing on Your Phone (WalletPop)
Jan 1st 2011 5:25PM Because many doctors and other professional people have multiple telephone numbers. They have numbers for incoming calls that are published for the public to use to contact THEM and there are numbers that they use to call out to people they need to talk with. They do not want the public to use the numbers they use for outgoing calls when attempting to contact those professional people.
Video: First teaser trailer for Cars 2 released (Autoblog)
Oct 22nd 2010 1:30AM Departed home (9/10) and it took 1 day to get to Chicago, spent two days there and departed to begin the trip (9/13). We arrived in Ontario, CA on the 15th day (9/24), cruised into Santa Monica and back to Ontario the next day (9/25) and departed for home on the Sunday after (9/26). It took us eight days to get home but there were two planned stops to visit with friends along the way. Finally arrived home on 10/3. That took the better part of 24 days but the trip could have been done in less time. It also could be spread over a longer period of time if a purist view was adopted and you traveled over every inch of the old road that still existed.
If you decide to do it, pick up a copy of "EZ 66, Route 66 Guide for Travelers" by Jerry McClanahan, published by the National Historic Route 66 Federation. Also, "Route 66: The Mother Road" by Michael Wallis is a necessity.
You will see the landscape that inspired the scenery around Radiator Springs and Mater can be found near an old gas station on the 18 mile section of '66 that passes through Kansas. There are hundreds of touristy things to see along the way.
Video: First teaser trailer for Cars 2 released (Autoblog)
Oct 21st 2010 4:44PM Just returned from a motorcycle trip that began in Chicago at the beginning (or end, depending on which way you go) of Route 66, followed the entire route (as best we could considering the changes that have been made) and ended in Santa Monica at the pier. At several stops along the way we were entertained by tales of Route 66 as told by Michael Wallis, the voice of the sheriff in the original "Cars." It was a trip I won't soon forget.
