Antonio Banderas absent for part of Melanie's battle with addiction (Celestrellas)

Sep 23rd 2011 6:57PM I've been clean for almost 20 years. Mine isn't a new theory, but it's worked for me. Melanie's 'problem' isn't likely alcohol OR pills. Melanie's problem....is Melanie. I believe that's the one obstacle most addicts can't get past, over or around...because "you" are always right there, dead center in your own way. It's kinda like 'wherever you go, there you are." Others mistakenly believe the drugs or the booze are the problem because physical signs of addiction (intoxication) are easily recognized. I believe most addicts are self-medicating. The problem is internal, in the heart and in the mind; the addicts SOLUTION is to drink, take pills and to use drugs....to escape something inside themselves that they can't see, can't identify, can't face, and/or can't fix. You have to 'fix' the things that cause you to pick up the first drink, joint, needle or pill in order to beat it. Melanie hasn't figured out what her problem really is yet. When she does, she'll stop making excuses and grasping at straws. Or maybe I'm just a moron...who knows?!?!

Jorja Fox Inks 'CSI' Deal (AOL TV)

Jul 19th 2010 3:39PM I too ceased to watch CSI when Grissom left. As for Fox, all I can say is "Jorja WHO??" Her acting skills were like watching a train wreck in slow motion if you ask me.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Surprise 'Eclipse' Theatergoers (Just So You Know)

Jul 10th 2010 12:06AM Vael I took my twenty-one year old daughter to see Eclipse as a sorta girl's night out. I've seen Twilight and New Moon and read all of the books, thanks to my daughter, because she begged me to read the first installment of Twilight. I'm forty years old and I practically dragged HER to the theater at midnight for the first showing of Eclipse. The books are much better in my opinion, and they contain much more meaningful depth of character. But I paid a lot of money for the two of us to see this movie at an IMAX and I don't regret it in the least. I think you should see it, honestly. You won't likely regret it.

Harpy Eagle Attacks BBC Film Crew (Asylum)

Jul 8th 2010 8:43PM I wonder; what would any of us do if we came home to find one dude hanging out of our second story window and another propelling up the side of our house unannounced?
Common sense isn't so common, eh? Both of them are lucky their relatives weren't planning their funerals after this stunt. If not from falling, from the damage these birds are able to inflict. It's a good thing for them that she was only mildly annoyed and only curious enough to warn them. Had she perceived a serious threat, we wouldn't see this video. It would be banned. Stupid, careless, disrespectful humans.

I Spent $3,000 to Save My Dog - and I'd Do It Again (Pawnation OLD)

Jun 23rd 2010 3:35AM I watched a guy sling a box out of the back of a pickup truck, on the crest of the next hill in rural SC. It was 102 in the shade. I just knew...I don't know why. They say you're chosen, that it's your destiny, when you find a helpless animal. God sends one to you if he knows that you, of all the millions of people in the world, you can make a difference in the life of the one he sends to you. I had no idea there was a car behind me when I locked up the brakes. Yes, she hit me. I didn't care..I was going to get that box. The car seemed unimportant at the time.

Atop my desk, right this second, is a regular old, run of the mill, garden variety black domestic cat. We call her 'Wire, short for LiveWire. 'Wire turned three years old on June 18th. I found myself reduced to tears when I realized it was her birthday, and I told her "see, Mommy told you that you were going to make it, didn't she?" And of course she purred and then bit me. She's a healthy brat these days.

My poor, precious heart. Her Momma and her four brothers and sisters were gone when I found them. 'Wire's mother...I bleed for that animal to the core of my soul to this day. I will never erase the picture of what that box contained from my memory, ever. Bones, she was skin and bones...she had brought them here only to die among them, discarded on the side of the highway like trash. I tell myself that God knows who he was and that He dealt with him. And then something in that box moved, and I dug, and there was the smallest black kitten I think I've ever seen. And I fell head over heels in love with it. My 'Wire. She was no more than two hours old, and she was dying.....fast.

My day one hand fed. It was so hard for 'Wire. Was there a debate over medical costs? Absolutely. The discussion was more of how we were going to come up with the money to pay for the extensive care she would require as her age progressed. There was never any discussion as to whether or not we 'would' pay it. 'Wire had some sort of genetic defect that affected her intestines. As she got older it got worse and pieces were gradually removed. She was unable to eat solid food at all so she had formula until she was almost four months. Needless to say she is rotten to the core. The first time she had surgery she was four weeks old..and she was the size of a kitten half her age...but she is aptly named and I steadfastly refused to give up on her. I told her simply "you let me know, as long as you're going to fight it baby, so am I." I would give my life for this animal in one blink of an eye. I fed this creature from the day she was born and I couldn't love her any more had I brought her into this world. God entrusted me with this creature, his cat, and it's my duty and my honor to do so. I am so lucky that she, and HE, chose me.

We had a party not long ago. A guest came in and 'Wire hopped up on a stool to 'speak' to her. She looked at 'Wire and she said "wow, and who's this beauty?" My daughter shrugged her shoulders, rolled her eyes, and she said "Oh, that's just my sister 'Wire."

I had an 'extra' car...that was all I had. It was a 1972 Buick Skylark Custom A body. It was my first car. I had it for twenty years. I held on to that car for years, and that's how we paid for 'Wire to get all better. Yes, an extra car....but only one 'Wire. Seven surgeries between three states....not inexpensive. Would I do it again? Absolutely, positively, without hesitation.

(Mommy loves you hunny bear)

God Bless All~ PEACE

Puli 101 (Pawnation OLD)

May 14th 2010 2:31AM I keep mine's coat cropped short, about three to four inches long. We tried it Paw Nations way for the first year and Hershey, and us, were all miserable with the bathing/grooming process. It gives him a totally different appearance and he resembles a Spaniel, but he's much happier when you can actually scratch him and reach the skin if he has an itch. The poor dog was miserable. It might 'look' cool if your dog grew a horn on the top of his head or a fifth paw too, but that doesn't necessarily make it beneficial to the dog. Their origin IS in Hungary. They were "farm" dogs. I'm sure they were well "groomed" then as well, right? Any domestic animal who will MILDEW because it takes so long to dry out has a problem that needs to be corrected far beyond grooming. One words...SHEARS. And my Hershey is just as beautiful without all those nasty, disease breeding, matted knots they're calling "clumps of wooly chords."
