Pics Aplenty: GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept is ready to play dirty (Autoblog)

Jan 8th 2011 3:09PM Not new to trucks, no, though I don't own one currently.

HD = Heavy Duty
HD = High Def
HD = High Density

There are numerous other HDs out there. I know what it means in this context. My point, which I admit I shouldn't have bothered making here, is that the short-hand, HD, is used all over the place and in multiple industries for multiple meanings, and is over-used.

Doesn't matter anyway - I hope GM keeps improving their vehicles and that they sell, even if the naming is tired.

4am is my favorite time to drive, especially if I have to be in the city.

Pics Aplenty: GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept is ready to play dirty (Autoblog)

Jan 8th 2011 9:25AM Its not bad looking, and is probably a good truck, but can we PLEASE stop putting HD in product names? Its the new "iSomething" and "eSomething" branding that got so out of control.

Are you the 2012 Toyota Yaris? (Autoblog)

Oct 13th 2010 6:43PM Looks a lot like my sister's Scion xA that's parked right outside, especially the rear view shot. This looks like what an updated xA should have been, not the ugly nosed thing that they released instead - the xD.

Are morning commuters using iPhones to listen to NPR? (TUAW.com)

Aug 21st 2010 12:12PM WRNI in Rhode Island (northern half anyway). Its low power too and doesn't reach the whole state. For half of my commute I don't get any reception, but I do get 3G, so its been great. WRNI was actually the first NPR station to get an iPhone app, which I still use. The full NPR.org app is great, but I don't need all the extra stuff just for listening.

New Saab Design Director greets the diehards, calls for "return to Saab's roots" (Autoblog)

Aug 12th 2010 2:08PM Bring us a modern 99 or 900, or maybe even a new Sonett. Give us a car with the key between the seats, something that drives well in snow, something crazy safe and fun to drive. That's going back to Saab's roots. Quirky is good.

Saab purists hate the Saab 9-2X. While it really isn't a Saab (since its a Subaru), it felt a lot closer to the ideals and philosophies of what they put out in the 70s and 80s than any of the new stuff that started coming out after GM took over.

Oh yeah, and a Saab competitor to the MINI would be awesome as well.

Android Phones Burdened by Carrier Junkware (Switched)

Jul 17th 2010 3:15PM My iPhone came with preinstalled stuff I never use too. Stuff Apple tells me I have to use, like Safari, their weather app, stock prices, etc. I'd love to get rid of it. :)

Really, this is the same thing that has plagued computer purchases for decades. Personally, I wouldn't care how much junk the carrier put on the phone so long as I have the ability to remove it. At least on a PC I can wipe it and start fresh if I choose to.

We pay for the phone, we pay for the service, we're locked into a contract... they make a bunch of money off us. But that's not enough - they need to also get paid by desperate companies like Blockbuster, and to heck with the consumer.

Double Stevemails on iPhone 4 reception: "Just don't hold it that way" (TUAW.com)

Jun 25th 2010 7:15AM @Chief Oddball, don't forget the trip to Tahiti... and that girl's phone number!

Study: iPhone 3GS more reliable than 3G (TUAW.com)

Jun 23rd 2010 10:40PM Ringer switch doesn't work properly anymore. It just starts randomly vibrating and turning on and off (the switch). I've been pretty hard on it though, carrying it in a pocket with keys, dropping it, tossing it on counters, leaving it in the car in sub zero nights, etc. I'm just lucky it still works.

Two days without an iPhone (TUAW.com)

Jun 22nd 2010 8:33PM Last year I went on vacation and shut my phone off for the entire time. It was incredibly liberating - not to mention I was totally stressing out at work and needed the break. Within a few days of returning I found myself returning to the downward stare of "multitasking" and ignoring the world around me.

Its important to disconnect sometimes.
