Designer clothes for your child. How much is too much? (Shopping Articles Blog)
Aug 8th 2009 1:02PM I would say that $100 on a pair of jeans for my adughter now would be highly unrealistic!!!! I have found that for good quality clothes, you may have to be willing to spend a little more money, but in the name of good quality and workmanship of the clothes, THAT is worth it. To spend money on your child's clothes to be pleasing of some in-crowd or to care only about stylishness at a higher cost----the money to be spent to fulfill that want must be re-evaluated, and realize that money spent on a child can go to better things to build up their inner self-worth, like education, for example. We spend $70 a month on our daughter's TaeKwonDo, and this has been way more beneficial for her long-term good than a $100 pair of jeans by far!!!!!
Anti-Gay Bullying Drives 11-Year-Old to Suicide (Blackvoices Main)
Apr 14th 2009 7:10PM HELLO!!!!! When will everyone wake up and smell the coffee on this subject??? It perplexes me all the time, why school bullies always seem to be the ones to get attention for their behavior (practically reinforced for it) and when it comes to someone who is being constantly teased and harassed in school---the answer always is "Ignore it and it will stop."???? Moron logic. Children need to feel safe in school, and hello, this does include the need to feel safe from not just the physical aggression, but the mental and emotional aggression, as well. Just as any good school wouldn't fail to address when a child is not doing well in a certain subject area, and would do anything to help that child not to fall, shoudn't they also promptly address when a child needs help, because they are the target of cruel attacks from the bullies? Success in school is not limited to standards of academic excellence. Schools also needs to be held accountable for each child's emotional and mental well-being. Parents should also be held accountable as well. When they see their child withdrawing from school, when they hear their child say that he/she doesn't want to go to school,or go on the school bus---that ought to be your first clue that their child's safety/well being is on the line, and any good parent will go to bat for their child and make themselves known that they will not let this happen to their child. No child should have to undergo such cruelty, and unfortunately, we have lost children in the U.S. because they had to, and no one to stand up for them. This child's mom did step up to the plate, but the school failed the boy--and his family. And what is being done about the bullies---or are they getting away with it, and no consequences to be had? This is what I get beyond upset about. It's like letting the bullies win,and the victims to suffer in silence, they way they shouldn't have to.

Salma Hayek won't baptize her baby (AOL Latino Blog)
Mar 27th 2008 10:34AM Now, I grew up with the belief that baptism has no saving merit, and that one must accept Christ in their heart, before going further to follow Him in obedience and be baptized. If this was Ms. Hayek's take on the whole thing, I'd be cool with it. If in fact she doesn't believe in God, that's a whole other issue, and this would be between her and God.
