Fixing a broken iPhone screen doesn't have to be a pain in the glass (TUAW.com)

Apr 15th 2010 1:50PM This same scenario has happened to me, twice, and I went through a similar search. When the screen cracked on my iPhone 3G, I was eligible to upgrade to a 3Gs so I found someone on Ebay purchasing iphones with cracked screens. He paid $170 for a white 16GB iPhone with a cracked screen while we were standing directly outside of the AT&T store, I walked in directly after the transaction and paid the difference of $30 to upgrade.

The second incident I dropped my phone while admittedly inebriated and cracked the entire screen on my brand new 3GS. Searched Craigslist and found a repair shop that fixed my screen for $70. Done and done.

Also this didn't void my warranty. How do I know? Well my iPhone cracked at the headphone port. After a little research I noticed that Apple had recognized this an issue and it was therefore covered under the warranty. What did I do? I made an appointment with a genius, he looked at the crack and subsequently replaced my phone 3rd party screen replacement intact. I immediately purchased an Otterbox case and my phone is as good as new and looks like it did when I first plucked it from its simplistic, yet beautiful, Apple packaging.

Jun 27th 2009 4:03PM I dropped my iPhone 3g straight into the toilet where it sat for about 30 seconds until I got it out and it is still working perfectly. That was about 6 months ago.
