Woman Faces Foreclosure on House She Bought for $1 (AOL Real Estate)

Sep 11th 2011 11:56PM Wow I am in awe! I've read just two pages of comments and there's only one that is borderline 'cranky'. SO many people only wanting to HELP! THIS is the spirit of the America I grew up in! Everyone wanting to help each other rather than tear each other down!
Like another poster, I, too, am disabled and on a very limited income, however I would LOVE to help, even a little. AOL - please update this story with legit donation information? I'm not saying that Linda's address posted here isn't legit, I only want to be SURE that funds would, with 100% certainty, go to this lady.
Linda, if you happen to read these comments, you'll see the American spirit here at work without a doubt. Hang tight and know that with prayer and your fellow caring Americans, you'll never know the fear of losing your home again!
Everyone here is so wonderful! God bless you, every one, and remember that when you help someone in need, the Lord and your fellow man will always 'pay it forward'!
God bless you Linda! I pray for your complete healing as well for many years more of enjoyment of your home and all life has to offer!

Chicago's Park Hyatt turns on heat lamps on picketing unionized employees (Gadling)

Jul 23rd 2011 8:08PM It was 95 degrees and you say "terrified"(???) residents?? @ hours ago it was 104 here in VA with the heat index at 118, but I degress.. I worked for the phone co. in the 1970s-1980s and belonged to their union. How many workers like say telephone operators made $15 an hour in 1985? I did! Double time and a half for holidays and not only Thxgiving & Christmas, this included even Martin Luther King jr Day and Presidents Day - both celebrated separately back then. The couple strikes stunk, but the pay and benefits were awesome. Now my son works for Verizon and enjoys the same-though higher pay. Who reaches 'top pay' after only 5 years? (Which I was.) Dues were $5 a week then, but the union took VERY good care of every need we had and every beef with management.
Also Jody - know what you mean - I lived in a big shoe city - Haverhill MA, next to Lawrence MA, another huge former 'shoe city'. New Balance shoes are still made there in Lawrence.

The Country's Biggest Tourist Trap: South of the Border (Gadling)

Jul 19th 2011 1:12AM Pssst Walt... GET ON the TOPIC! Some people are sadly so SICK in the head with their politics that they cannot even comment on a piece of real Americana, heck not ONE word about it! Just their idiot politics, politics, politics!! South of the Border rocks! Walt has rocks - in his head.

The Country's Biggest Tourist Trap: South of the Border (Gadling)

Jul 19th 2011 12:56AM Doesn't anyone just believe in FUN anymore? My son was married in Florida in April, and we drove down from Virginia. We stopped at South of the Border on the way there AND back just to putter around and grab a few T Shirts and souveniers. Our 13 yr old son and 18 yr old daughter both LOVED it! No, we didn't stay at the motel, just stopped for the store each time and kids got a few cute things and we even got some a 'Mexican' blanket (made in China! lol) for a couch throw! You have to get out sometimes and just have FUN! Wearing a cute flower necklace now that I got there for a dollar! VERY fun place!

Census: More Kids Living With Grandparents (ParentDish)

Jul 1st 2011 2:32PM I never expected to have anyone home now but my 13 yr old son with my other children all adults. This article is truer than true. My adult kids are struggling. One daughter has no job but she's going to school in the fall - thank God for Student Aid! Another daughter is pregnant, husband left to chase women a few months ago. I have raised her first since day one, he is now 3. They're all living with us. Add that I am disabled on SSD and my husband supports us all. BEST thing is my husband's job is thriving, praise God! True though that we are all closer for it. (AOL pleasee get rid of this spam!!)
