Nexus One lives on as Google's official developer phone (Engadget)

Yeah, still from my Free the bootloader of the Motorola Milestone days..... I have no idea to change it on Engadget.
NPD: Android is now top-selling OS in American smartphones (Engadget)
Aug 5th 2010 11:30AM Android shows a nice growing pace.
In February Google stated that 60,000 Androids were activated each day (+- 21 million a year).
In mid may 100,000 (+- 37 million a year),
late June 160,000 (+- 58 million a year) and now
early august 200,000 (+-73 million a year)
If they continue this growing pace they will be selling more than 600,000 a day (+- 220 million/year)in February 2011

77% of iPhone owners say they'll buy another iPhone
1) This NPD tally is excluding 40% of iPhone sales (iPhones sold to business).
And the BB sales to business... BTW business adoption normally follows consumer adaption, so it´s a sign of things to come
2) This NPD tally is only including the 1st week of iPhone 4 sales.
Maybe as Q3 is not over yet?
3) This NPD tally is only talking about sales in Q2, not total market share.
And the title of the article was...."NPD: Android is now top-SELLING OS in American smartphones", so what´s your point?
4) The iPhone has twice the market share of Android.
See 3)
5) nearly 25% of 1st week iPhone 4 sales were to new customers.
And ?
6) Amongst the big three (iPhone, Black Berry and Android), Android has the 2nd lowest loyalty rate and highest defection rate, 29% while the iPhone has the highest loyalty rate, 90%, and the lowest defection rate of any phone.
77% of iPhone owners say they'll buy another iPhone (http://money.cnn.com/2010/07/23/technology/iphone_4_att/ ) so that would translate to 23% deflection rate.
7) Android sales are artificially inflated by giving away the phones away for free (buy one get one free program) just to bait consumers into buying them.
I didn´t see a rule that said that a sale only counts if a minimum price has been paid... Apparently there is enough margin on the phones that allows them to give away a second phone.
8) The iPhone has a 99% highly satisfied user rating. No one can come close.
if 77% of iPhone owners say they'll buy another iPhone aparantly 23% are not completely satisfied
9) the lost iPhone 4 prototype artificially lowered iPhone sales as the public slowed down purchases in expectation of the new model.
Never happened before that iPhone sales slow down before the yearly Apple Event in Q2
10) Android has to sell in four carriers (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile) and give away phones just to be able to match the iPhone.
Sure as iPhone user you have been brain washed in thinking that choice is a bad thing. It´s not Android´s fault that the iP is limited to AT&T (in the US)
11) In AT&T the iPhone outsells Android by orders of magnitude. When the iPhone expands to Verizon and/or T-Mobile the same will happen and Android sales will collapse.
AT&T has only sold crippled Android phones so far.
12) There will not be another lost iPhone prototype that will artificially deflate iPhone sales.
So if sales of the iP slows down again in Q2 2011 it can be contributed solely to the rise of the Android?

Hmmmm... so if the corporations raise the price on each Android phone with, let´s say, $5,- and donate this money to the African children they could eradicate that problem.

0.5% is still 5000 people complained for every million iPhones sold. IMO still significant for a device that implies (thru it´s name) that it´s mean to able to used as phone.

IF Apple would win and HTC gets banned there you can still buy Android phones from different manufactures, IF Nokia wins and Apple gets banned there is NO source of iPhones anymore.

I had the change between upgrading my iPhone or 'deflect' to Android. I made my choice after playing with some Andoid phones of my friends. I´m now a happy owner of a N1. On the end it all comes down to personal choice and preference. I liked my iPhone but I hated to be just another iPhone user.... I don´t want to be a sheep. I finally wend for Android as I don´t like Apple´s interference with how I use MY phone. I don´t care about porn but I do care about it should be MY decision whether I want to install it or not and finally I thought I didn´t care about Flash but it turns out a great enhancement on web experience.

You know whats hilarious?
Android fans don't even HAVE to pay for most apps...
"That proves just what we always knew about Android fans...
Thieves"
So if I visit a mall but not buying anything I´m a thief ?
"They want to root, hack, unlock, you name it, so they can steal perfectly good software."
There many reasons to root, hack, unlock... but stealing is not one of them; unlike the iPhone, Android phones can install software from alternate markets without rooting.
"*shakes head........ assholes"
Time for another ban?
Oh yeah... 1/50th guys. You're not running anything. That's not even a 2% share. That's 2% of APPLE'S share.
Android gives away the farm, and no one clicks on their annoying dumb ads.
