Fix It or Toss It? 2 {Switched.com}
Jun 26th 2008 2:38PM My son's Zune died after he had it only a few months. We contacted Microsoft who replaced it free of charge. It's well worth it to contact the maker to see if the item qualifies for a no charge repair or replacement.
Is texting ruining this generation's spelling skillz? {ParentDish}
May 5th 2008 12:17AM There is a time and a place for shorthand. On cell phones it's fine. I've seen too many kids writing in text-speak in emails and on discussion boards. I ignore those types of posts. A serious discussion is no place for text-speak.
I text without using shorthand and nobody has ever had to ask me to explain what I sent.
Teen's text foils robbery {ParentDish}
May 5th 2008 12:11AM Exactly Josh. Locked or no, if they want to get in, they will get in. I haven't yet heard of a burgler say "oh, the door was locked so I left"...no, if the door is locked, they kick in teh door, break a window, or find another way in.
Teen's text foils robbery {ParentDish}
May 5th 2008 12:07AM IMO, if the door had been locked, there would have been costly damage to the house, either in a broken doorway or window. I never lock anything. If somebody thinks they need my VCR more than me, they're welcome to it.
Chances are the house had been watched so th crooks would know when nobody would be home. Apparently nobody in the neighborhood noticed a strange vehicle casing the area.
Guy Wins $5.15 Million Jackpot, Other Guy Unplugs Slot Machine {Switched.com}
Mar 6th 2008 8:15PM Well, I could agree that the machine did have a malfunction, however I also believe the casino was in the wrong in pulling the plug after that man won the jackpot. If they knew the machine had a malfunction, they should have unplugged it BEFORE anybody played, not after a jackpot was won. That makes it sound like a scam.
How to Keep Your Gadgets From Getting Stolen {Switched.com}
Feb 1st 2008 10:38AM Mostly it's just simple common sense that keeps your stuff from getting stolen. I work in a grocery store and I'm amazed at how many customers shop with their purses in the cart, wide open, and they have their backs turned looking at the shelves. That's an open invitation to "help yourself". And kids are always walking around with the buds in their ears, waving their iPods and Game Boys around for all the world to see. I don't know if I'm supposed to be impressed, but I'm not, and I have no sympathy for anybody who gets something stolen when they're so blatent about advertising it's existance.
