Michelle Obama Style Predictions (Stylelist)

Nov 6th 2008 9:15PM broad @ss? pre-op tranny? working lady in the hood? That dress was purposefully for you idiots! She'll never be your first lady? Really, you should move out of the country rather than spew the hate that is probably matched only by your looks. Still trying to say Obama bought the election with foreign $$ and she's profligate? You clearly don't read the facts and think for yourself. Identity politics is dead, but you think you are still relevant! You got suckered into giving richer people tax breaks because they pretended to be like you and like you and aren't and don't. But you haters still don't get it.
Michelle, you're going to have to wear some more brights just to keep these losers busy with their only friend, the blog that lets them spew.
Go you gorgeous, vibrant, educated, effective, loving, fun, down to earth genius, Michelle Obama!

War of the Sweeteners: Could Splenda Make You Fat? (Lemondrop)

Oct 8th 2008 6:47AM It doesn't matter who did the study or which mechanism causes Splenda eaters to eat and weigh more: what counts is that it works out that way. What to do about it? Certainly the judgemental people aren't going to help AT ALL. The preachers who say you should cook from scratch more ignore the fact that it takes more time, more trial and error, and often more money.to cook low calorie with taste, and exercise away calories.
The only thing that works is to recognize that food planning and cooking and habit changing are an art, not a science. You need to decide that any food planning and prep that you do that is healthful are not just work, but an opportunity to pat yourself on the back, be ingenious, and win a little battle in a long war. A war in which battles, like exercise, eventually add up and tip the scales.
For example, those who have the genes to get an aftertaste from stevia can try adding a pinch or few of sugar -- a pitcher of lemonade with a few pinches of sugar is still WAY better than a cup or more of sugar. Preparing your own crunchy snack bags with carrot, celery, can cuke strips can be a group activity where you all think of how eating these fresh veggies every day will cut your cancer risk by up to 50%. Eating whole, complex carbohydrates is totally different from eating bleached flour, potato flour, and purigied starches, and doesn't have to take more time. For example, if you like oatmeal, consider getting whole (not steel cut) oats from the natural foods store. Use 4 to 1 water to oats in a tiny crockpot from Target at bedtime on low. 8-14 hours later, it's as creamy as if you added some, and you can add vanilla and sweeterners, fruits or dried fruits or jam, or butter and bacon Canadian style. Turn it off and at night you can scoop out the contents, dump in trash, rinse, and start again. Less prep, cleanup time, and $$ than the various kinds of oatmeal, but you'll never hear it advertised because it is to YOUR profit, not Con Agra's.
Same for pinto beans, which you can cook on low all day (more like 8 parts water to 1 part beans). You can get chili mix powder, tumeric, cumin, a little curry all together in a jar and put a few spoonfuls in with fresh ground pepper, dried garlic and onion (or fresh chopped), dried basil, oregano, or thyme. Slow cooking (and getting used to it) keeps gas away, while whole beans give long energy to prevent bingeing, have an amino acid that prevents blood sugar swings, and help make you regular. The leftovers let you make almost instant soup with a little greens and grated cheese.
There are so many foods like this that let yo still eat high volume with few calories. Taking a Trader Joes Ultimate EFA pill with your multiviamin might also help you stay away from the omega 6's that are in commercial oils and profitable only to agribusiness, not your body.
Good luck
P.S. For a virtually zero calorie cole slaw, mix juice of a few lemons into fat free sour cream. (First mix into the lemon juice a few tsp of powdered wasabo powder you get chap in jap food store. Add grated carrots (up to a pound) and very thinkly cliced savoy or small chinese cabbage. Steam stir fry for less fat, and add tofu or cooked french baby lentils, and don;t add soy sauce until served so you;ll eat less salt. Yet another way to indulge all you wajt to nobodies profit but your own.
Ask yourself how you can copy or replace your favorite junk foods with little.no prep, and Revel in your having come up with a way to win, again.'Good luck

Need a Treatment For Your Balding? (AOL Hot Searches)

Aug 30th 2008 9:55PM I think the most common cause of hair loss in women is anemia, which so many of us have. Best to take a non-constipating iron pill and b-vitamins first, to see if in a week or so hair stops falling out, before doing the expensive stuff.
If it works, you should probably eat foods that ward off anemia rather than the pills alone, since the foods are more efficient - pumpkin seeds, red meat, leafy greens, etc.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with free tickets from Southwest Airlines! (Gadling)

May 9th 2008 1:22AM After 14 years mostly in bed with an misdiagnosed broken neck (if any of the nth opinion docs had taken an x-ray I wouldn't have no arms and 14 years of being treated like a whiner and rejected for disability or malpractice because "it took too long to diagnose so records are too hard to prove"), I would like to go to Mexico and try visiting some of the families of youngsters I taught English to. I'd pay for my niece in Albuquerque to go too as a gift for having completed her masters in acupunture on loans she'll be repaying for a long long time.

Looking for a Healthy Snack? (AOL Hot Searches)

May 3rd 2008 11:21PM buy a few sticks of licorice, and park and chew (real sticks).

Grow stevia and mint and chew a 1/4 inch square of stevia with a baby mint leaf. Better yet, make strong mint tea with stevia for a filling, candy like drink hot or cold that has no calories. Add a pinch of sugar if your stevia flavor is noticeable.

Buy a self-fill oil sprayer bottle (Williams Sonoma, etc.), and spray your air-popped popcorn (a layer in a brown lunchsack tightly folded and sealed with scotchtape microwaved until popping pipes down) with extra virgin olive oil and flavor or herbs or stevia and cinnamon.

Buy a can/bottle of powdered wasabi. Mix it with fat free sour cream and fresh lemon juice and make it really spicey. Add a finely sliced cabbage and lots of grated carrots for a virtually calorie-free food that really fills you up - gets very mild overnite in the fridge, so use a teaspoon of wasabi and more than one lemon. Makes any low cal food a feast.

Steam green beans (longbeans take little prep time). Spray with extra virgin olive oil and a dusting of hot pepper powder, mixing several times overnite. Or use well beaten lemon and ginger. A hearty side dish, appetizer, or snack. Or, add garlic, onions, peppers, etc., while steaming beans or other firm veggies, before mixing. Good hot, room temp, or cold.

Toast thin sliced whole wheat french bread. Top it with the veggies you made above swirled briefly in blender or processor. Top that with grated cheese or salt for a healthy low calorie appetizer or lunch. The trick is to eat immediately, so make it WITH the people you are feeding. Add olives, balsamic vinegar, onions, sardines or tuna, beans, seeds - or let them choose toppers for creativity without guilt.

Make dessert plates with sliced cored apples and various sugar and fat free or low-fat toppings ready to use, like Trader Joe's bettern pnut butter with a little water or stevia water plus cocoa, or fat free sour cream with stevia and lemon; and powders for dusting-with-a pinch, like cinnamon, ginger, or cocoa.

Mix spaghetti squash with Trader Joe's OG spaghetti sauce and then serve it on anything low calorie like thinly sliced jicama, whole wheat french bread toast, or steamed cabbage leaves. Spray it with extra virgin olive oil and dust with grated cheese or salt to give it a rich mouth feel for a low or almost low calorie treat - another one where you can eat all you want without empty sugars, heavy salt, or lots of calories.

200-Million Spam Text Messages Hit Chinese Cell Phones (Switched)

Apr 2nd 2008 12:58AM The Chinese think that Tibetans are ungrateful murderers while treating Tibetans like Jim Crow days. They poison us for a few dollars profit. They are ignorant and greedy. Problem is, that describes us, too - anyone who doesn't agree with our chosen politics, and we're starting to realize that capitalism doesn't equal democracy. Fact is, people can't do what is best in the long run - all pull up the ladder after themselves because we are still too primitive to take care of our communities unless they are homogeneous (check the studies), let alone the planet. We need a LOT less people to remain so us-vs-them, or for everyone to become wise overnight. Good luck mankind.

Two year old left at Chuck E. Cheese, family doesn't notice for 2 days (ParentDish)

Jan 12th 2008 12:20AM wow, another day and another 250 perfect parents who never take their eyes off their child for 1 millisecond until they are 21. There are actually abusive entrants here proud of being low hovering helicopters every second of their poor children's lives. And 99.5% can't read carefully enough to get all the facts and possibilities before foaming at the keyboard to be judgemental. And the rare few like sin, ali, lisa, todd, bill who say, "wait a minute, look at the logical possibilities here" have been ignored 100% of the time, with all kinds of interaction between one-upping judges! Unbelievable. And the bible tells us it happened to Jesus. Somehow I don't think Jesus would say the garbage insults we see in 99.5% of the comments here. Well, another day, another portal throws a teaser bone to the rabid dogs to show off to each other how fast they can chomp - don't you realize that these stories are intentionally reported with enough obviously missing detail to attract more clicks, especially if they are the short punchy profitable unthinking judgemental ones...have another nice judgemental ignorant day!

Jan 10th 2008 7:56PM so sorry not to note Dennis - such a delicious naughty idea to think of it being a Bush! And wow, ang, for a second I thought someone else could read and right! (but your heart's in the right place) ddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddand Bri is WAY better than me, saying simply " any body think that it happened to Jesus?"
To the rest of you, I hope you feel all glorified by your ignorant viciousness and sleep like sheep - bye bye

Jan 10th 2008 7:43PM Dear Mary Eberhard, lady bright and the 1st googler, vikki, and stu,
You are in the top 1/2 percentile of intelligence in this discussion, and pretty much the only ones who can think or read. So, give up trying to get people to think - I see that you got exactly zero comments, since these sheep who turn into wolves behind the wheel of a car or on the internet are being tossed a little red meat to tussle over because that's the only way they can feel good about themselves, by judging others inferior. They have no capacity to put themselves in the shoes of others, let alone the bandwidth to think imaginatively about what real-world scenarios could, but for the grace of god, have us in the same situation, if we worked weekends for pay that doesn't budget for both food AND tv's or phones, let alone cellphones.
They probably think that although 99% of them can't read, and can't click the more info link, that they are more intelligent than the people who throw them this re-written fake news release (noted by the googler, also neither read or responded to!)
Dear Lord, Let those who can lynch but not think trip up and have a similar snafu that will expose them to equally insane small mindedness from people just like them! (and release their children from their perfectness, which must be a horrible burden!) And punish them as they would others. Now I will go back to ignoring bulletin boards as I have for the past 20+ years. Enjoy your invective, fools!

Jan 10th 2008 5:12PM I can't believe how obvious it is that the commenters on this story judge before reading the facts! The stupendously exhausting (mentally and physically) task of simply clicking on the highlighted link in the middle of this story would have wildly changed the tenor of the comments to speculation about the extended family that is caring for a motherless child or at least reacted to the fact that no one is being charged with anything.
Obviously it's just too easy to be judge and jury behind a wheel or in a comment...I wonder if I would want a child of mine reared by someone who would judge without lookiing at even the spoon-fed facts...
