Kazuharu Sakura's Leather Keyboard: Only Touch Typists Need Apply (Switched)
Jun 18th 2008 9:16AM I'm a touch-typist, but I agree 100% with John--this is just one more thing to get people to spend too much money.
Sarah, I don't know what "In today's world where products and portions are shrinking, this is a pretty good idea!" has to do with this. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with giving the consumer more.
Gwyneth Paltrow: No trust funds for her kids (ParentDish)
May 20th 2008 5:12PM Could you BE any more judgmental? For heaven's sake--you're missing the point of the story. I applaud Gwyneth for trying to allow her children not to grow up spoiled. I think parents with far less money than she has could take a leaf from her book.
Five Things You Need to Know About Digital TV Coupons (Switched)
Jan 15th 2008 8:26AM The solution: quit watching television. My family has been refusing to pay for cable or satellite television for years, just watching a couple of broadcast shows a week and DVDs if there's nothing on and we just want to veg. I'm not about to pay for something I've been getting for free, especially when there's not that much out there that's good. It's not a question of being cheap, it's about spending my money wisely. I'd rather buy books and save for college for my daughter than spend my money on something that really doesn't matter anyway.
Unfortunately, most people don't agree with that, and do see television as a necessity of life--if you've ever seen a picture of a third-world village, you'll notice all the television antennae on top of all the shacks. It's sad to me that people will pay for cable, satellite, boxes, and new TVs rather than just giving up television and spending their money on food and clothing for their children. I'm disgusted that our tax dollars are facilitating this.
Babies love their American Idol (AOL TV)
May 11th 2006 8:03AM WTG, Motherof2. We have a real problem if we're already making our two-year-olds into couch potatoes. And when do these kids go to bed?
