iOS 5 rumor: iPhone 3GS to drop off supported list? (TUAW.com)
May 25th 2011 5:44AM I think everyone would be massively surprised if iOS 5 wasn't announced at WWDC and released in September when the new iPods and iPhone will be announced.

iCab Mobile for iOS is like a pro version of Safari (TUAW.com)
Apr 4th 2011 5:06AM I think the iPad version is certainly better than safari, the iPhone version feels a little cluttered, but the power is certainly welcome. Certainly recommend it though.
I think the fact that iPad Safari is so limited comes directly from the iPhone. They haven't really taken advantage of the extra screen estate.

Apr 1st 2011 6:47PM I've seen that bug in TomTom on my iPhone and years ago on my old windows mobile PDA, so I reckon that's a bug in their software. It was much worse on windows mobile mind, sometimes throwing the routing off for a few seconds.
I too prefer TomTom, perhaps because I'm used to it, but it works well for me.

Oct 25th 2010 2:58PM Well, it makes no difference what the size is - what is it's bitrate and/or resolution?
It's playing standard def avi tv rips fine here, though it got really confused when I tried to sync another file on while it was playing - the sound and video got tens of seconds out-of-sync.

MacBook Air refresh features SSD storage, smaller sibling (TUAW.com)
Oct 20th 2010 5:42PM Instant-on means nothing - all Macs wake pretty much instantly from sleep, and the Mac Book Air is no different. I think all Apple are saying is that the battery life is long when it's asleep... I'm not entirely sure why that's considered 'instant-on'...
"Flash [...] gives MacBook Air the astonishing ability to remain in standby mode for up to 30 days. Which means your MacBook Air snaps to in an instant, whether you open it tomorrow, next week, or next month."
As I understand it existing Macs don't use the hard-disk when asleep, so I'm not sure why flash helps. Also, presumably this is refering to a MacBook Air that isn't plugged in, as you'd expect any Mac to "snap to in an instant, whether you open it tomorrow, next week, or next month."
So to me this sounds like marketing nonsense.

Oct 20th 2010 5:37PM Neither does Flash memory - digital cameras don't lose their photos when you take the memory card out do they?
RAM on the other hand does does require power to retain data.

Sep 21st 2010 5:32AM A pun is a play on words, and this sign is playing with the word bar - to mean a place you go and get drunk and the bars in the top left corner of the phone. It's also, slightly less so, playing on the word service - as in being served in a bar versus being provided with a service by AT&T.
This sign is funny due to this - they've found two words that make sense in both a club context and a phone context - a kind of double pun.
