Behind the Polish: Gel Nails Explained (Stylelist)

Jun 21st 2011 4:59PM I've been wearing Light Concepts (LCN) gel for almost 20 years. From what I understand it was the first of this type of product. It was developed by a dentist in Germany who specialized in vaneers and is formulated from that type of product so there aren't harmful chemicals in it like there are in acrylics. The company requires anyone that applies their product to take a course and be certified by their company.

I've never ever had a problem with Light Concepts. My manicurist rarely uses the dremmel/drill file on my nails, she just files them to take the last coat off so they won't get too thick and the new gel can adhear well. The color gel comes off that easily as well. No soaking. In fact acetone doesn't effect this product at all so if you choose to paint your nails then take it off...no worries. I wash dishes without gloves and have never had a problem.

This product is not porous (sp?) so I've never had fungus which I've had with other gel products. My nails rarely break and I only have to have a fill done once every 3 weeks. I can occasionally go longer in the winter when my nails grow more slowly. When I'm in NJ I pay $45 for a clear fill but when I visit my dad in Florida, I only pay $30. I occasionally will get a french set which is a little more expensive but it lasts for 2 months (if you don't mind the white area getting smaller)

I do try to cover my hands or wear sunscreen on them when I need to use the UV light. I have a number a small wrinkles from prior to me being aware of what it was. I don't work for LCN or any other beauty industry. I'm just a big fan.

Behind the Polish: Gel Nails Explained (Stylelist)

Jun 21st 2011 4:35PM Did you ever try tatooing your toes to make them look like they have nails? I don't know if you'd be happy with the same color forever, but it's an option.

Ashton Kutcher to Replace Charlie Sheen on 'Two and a Half Men' (PopEater)

May 13th 2011 7:06PM Ashton Kutcher is too young to replace Charlie Harper. They should've asked Rob Lowe. HAAHAA What about Emilio? That would be a kicker.

Are Tea Partiers Gaming the Vote for Bristol Palin on 'Dancing With the Stars'? (AOL TV)

Nov 18th 2010 1:55PM If what this article says is true, it's pretty sad that their agenda is more important than Bristol's feelings. Think about how she's going to feel if this ends up being true. She has nothing to do with her mother's political life. They need to make their point the right way, not by hurting innocent bystanders. WOW how that will suck for that whole family if it's true.

Is Getting a Degree Really the Best Option? (AOL Jobs)

Nov 8th 2010 5:02PM Unfortunately coporations still pay the employees with degrees better even if they don't perform as well.

Clean a Bathroom in 15 Minutes: Our Minute-by-Minute Guide (Shelterpop)

Oct 22nd 2010 7:30PM PS... Nature's Miracle is for animal urine not human urine. There's a product called Urine Gone meant for human urine. But neither one claim to kill germs.

I've read that hydrogen peroxide is actually better than bleach. Need to check on that....

Clean a Bathroom in 15 Minutes: Our Minute-by-Minute Guide (Shelterpop)

Oct 22nd 2010 7:26PM OK! I guess this person has never had men/boys living in her home and having their friends over. They get pee EVERYWHERE! Running down the outside of the bowl, the floor, the walls next to the toilet, the walls behind the toilet..... I would never use a towel or sponge to clean all that up. EW!! I unfortunately use something very ungreen. I use those cleaning wipes. I just don't think all of those germs are washed out of those rags when they're put in the laundry no less while you're cleaning the toilet, floor, walls, etc. It seems like I'm just wiping the pee away but smearing the germs around everywhere. EW!!!

Female Body Types Determined By Genetics, Study Says (Stylelist)

Oct 11th 2010 3:13PM I'll have to disagree with the mom passing the body type gene idea. I'm a 47 year old mom. Always been tall and slim. My daughter is 20 and been overweight since puberty kicked it. She looks just like her dad in the face and the body. My 18 year old son looks just like his dad as well. If I didn't carry them, I'd swear they weren't mine. No resemblance in any way at all. These scientists need to rethink their studies and start testing the chemicals that are put in and sprayed on our foods. Hello!?! Hormones in meats. MSG in almost everything for the past 40 years (companies hide it under different name - google it, it's some nasty sh**). More obesity, depression, anxiety, ADD, Autism, etc. than ever before. Things that make you go Hmmmm!?!

Are Parents of Obese Kids Abusive? (ParentDish)

Aug 25th 2010 5:27PM Everyone has a place within them for God. When they push him out, there's an emptiness which many fill with something else in excess. Drugs, booze, food, hoarding, etc. Focus on God.
