Airplane Internet Access May Come with Censorship (Switched)

Dec 29th 2007 12:50AM Why can't the airlines simply impose a set of basic rules (as on any other public transit system) i.e. no music or sound other than via headphones. And perhaps have a section of the plane for internet use and a section for non-internet use (the way we used to do with smoking and the way some restaurants are now treating cell phone users.

If I was going to be taking a long flight I might be willing to pay a slight premium charge for the use of a wi-fi connection in a wi-fi section of the plane. I can also see myself on the other side of the equation: perhaps paying a slight fee so that I DO NOT have to sit in the section where everyone has a laptop.

Wal-Mart stocks Bratz dolls next to Jesus (BloggingStocks)

Nov 19th 2007 5:40PM I don't think Jesus wants Santa to deliver Him or His message to your child on Christmas morning.

The true wonder and beauty of this season is found in the story of Christmas: the story of Christ's birth. I find it perfectly delightful that children have a tradition and even a superstition surrounding gifts and Santa at Christmas time. But let's not pretend that the gifts and Santa part of the season has ANYTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the real reason we celebrate the holiday. Don't give your kids a Jesus doll: do them a real favor and teach them the story. There's a true gift that will last forever.

I don't think Jesus will be upset that your child receives teddy bears or doll houses this Christmas. I think he would be upset to find that His name and likeness have been used in this commercial, material game we play every December. He would be upset to learn that you gave your child a Jesus doll in an attempt to make the holiday "more religious" but neglected to take them to church or read them the Bible story. . . that you were hoping the Jesus doll would do that job for you.

'Tubby Tax' on the way for obese travelers? (That's Fit)

Nov 15th 2007 8:36PM Soon we will all have to travel completely naked with no baggage and they will have a scale to weigh each of us as we get on the plane.

Ooo, I have an even better idea: in addition to the new "security measures" I just mentioned, how about from now on, airlines charge passengers by the pound? It'll be like buying ground beef at the grocer.

Officials might ban fast-food restaurants (Slashfood)

Sep 16th 2007 7:07PM Let's put it to a vote in the next election. I bet if we asked the American people whether or not they WANT fast food establishments in their lives, most of them would vote to close the suckers down. If we're aiming for healthier options, then that's a way to achieve what we want without the government having to tell us what we can and can't eat.

I think there ought to be some pretty clear guidelines about what exactly makes a restaurant "fast food" though.

Dispatch From Texas (AOL Elections Blog)

Aug 15th 2007 5:00PM If we don't fight the war "over there" then when this ya-hoo pulls troops from Iraq immediately and wins praise from all the anti-war citizens we will have about 5 seconds to celebrate. Then we will begin fighting the war "over here". The fact is that as much as we don't like the war, I think we all agree that if we have to be at war, we don't want it on our own soil. At this point, place the blame for the war wherever you want. The bottom line is that we have to stay and win in Iraq now that we've made such a mess.

Flag Fashion: Aaron Carter (Old Popeater -TBD)

Jul 4th 2007 7:17PM Call me old-fashioned if you want, but I don't think it's appropriate to break the rules with the flag. I guess I don't mind the tributes once in a while (i.e. Bono's jacket after 9/11) but cutting the flag or wearing it upside down or using it as a bikini: I don't dig on that.

Rosie Behind the Scenes (AOL Video Blog)

Jun 1st 2007 11:25PM Rosie is a shock-jock plain and simple.

People don't watch NASCAR for the race, they watch secretly hoping for a horrible crash. And now we can say that with Rosie, people don't watch the View to hear any of the discussions. They watch secretly hoping to hear a rant.

Who cares what's true or false with Rosie? The real issue is that she says what she says because she's self-serving and attention-seeking. She's one of those people that always has to stir the pot and cause trouble.

Hanso Foundation's 877-HANSORG: What's it say? (AOL TV)

May 5th 2006 12:27AM I tried to sign up for the newsletter at www.thehansofoundation.org. It asks for a username and then asks you to type a password. If you type "breaking strain" you get a cryptic dharma message and "persephone" tells you that you are now logged in to receive updates. The password came from dialing 877-Hanso and listening to the prompts. One of the prompts is a crazy lady talking about the password is "breaking strain"
