Poor people spend 9% of income on lottery tickets; here's why (WalletPop)

Jun 1st 2010 11:31AM Living here in PA I don't feel so bad when I lose a few dollars on the lottery the few times I get an urge to play during the year. At least in this state the money goes toward helping the elderly.
I know this first hand as most of the services for my ailing aging parents were free and excellent. And, they were not poverty sticken so these services are for everyone. Because of that I feel that my lottery expenses are akin to making a donation to an extremely worthy cause. If I ever get lucky enough to win a huge amount, I'll be able to give back way more than I spent.
Do I think I'll ever win? No not really, but all you need is a dollar and a dream, someone DOES win eventually. Although personally I think the 2nd place & other prizes should be distributed more evenly as the jackpot climbs.
As my grandfather always said, the whole life of a person is hope. Hope knows no economic status.
I guess the key is not to have an addictive personality and to play responsibly.

The Kosher Phone for Orthodox Jews (Switched)

Nov 7th 2007 1:24PM Joshua, It would've been helpful if this was reviewed before it hit the internet, but I do appreciate your sensitivity, if only the rest of the world would oblige...thanks.

The Kosher Phone for Orthodox Jews (Switched)

Nov 7th 2007 12:55PM SURE, add to the already anti-semitic comments with "Can Jew hear me now?" That is SO DISRESPECTFUL that I can not believe this was printed!! As if we don't have enough to worry about...
At times I wish the Jewish People had a Rev. Al Sharpton type person in their midst.
I am extremely disgusted, Mel Gibson might as well have written this article!
