Feb 20th 2010 8:17PM He didn't say it would be "silly to comment" he said it woulod be "silly to speculate on the cause" A vbery valid sentiment for such speculation usually leads to abrupt and erroneous conclusions. what is the problem with the reporters honesty?? Are you just not used to it, or did you fail to actually comprehend the written word before you jumped on with both feet.

J.K. Rowling's Book of Fairy Tales Finished: But Only Told to the Rich (Luxist)

Nov 2nd 2007 1:28PM I was born in 1957 in Southern Mississippi. I was born into a poor white family (yes, there really are such things !!) and I remember not having enough to eat, indoor plumbing, or shoes to wear but I ALWAYS had books, whether from the school library, relatives, or schoolmates and teachers. I learned to read at an early age, and it was literature that gave me insight to the world, the ambition to succeed, and the ability to dream. While we were poor as the proverbial church mice, any and all literature was relevant to my life. Because of my intense love of reading and learning, I have managed to create a good life for myself and to ensure that my children have always had enough to eat, indoor plumbing and shoes to wear. HOW DARE ANYONE insinuate that social circumstances have anything to do with relating to literature or love of reading. Ever heard of Abraham Lincoln??
As for J.K. Rowling, I loved her books but think it was tasteless for her to comment on the sexuality of one of her characters. If she could not delineate the proclivity in the plot, it should have remained undefined. I would also like to add that she has not retroactively included sexual conduct in her books. You will not reread them, and suddenly discover that Dumbledore had a secret affair with anyone. All she has done is comment on an imaginary character. Tasteless, as I said, but misleading? career-ending? deviously insidious?? I think not !! Get a grip on it, Folks. Your kids will see more homosexuality on "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy" or "Will and Grace", and you better not EVER let 'em read an actual biography of Benjamin Franklin, J.Edgar Hoover, or Socrates. Sheesh!! Get your heads out of the 20th. century, for crying out loud.
