Drunk mom tries to pick up kid {ParentDish}

Apr 19th 2008 2:00PM I understand going through bad times. But, if you're going to do that, you get a babysitter or grandma, hang out with one of your best friends and watch movies or something. WITHOUT YOUR CHILD! You can go to a bar, just take a cab or have a designated driver. I think, as a rule, there is no amount of drinking and driving that is a safe mix. Especially, when children are involved. I don't think even ONE glass of wine is ok when you know you'll have a child in the car. It's best just to drink Coke or Tea. I feel badly for the little girl. It's just embarrassing and sad. And even though this is a big mistake that this mother has made, a daughter needs her mom. I'm sure this woman is humiliated and hopefully this will sober her up. Maybe, in their world, this is somehow a good thing. Maybe, it will open this mother's eyes to the fact that she has a problem and she's choosing alcohol over her child. And nothing should come before your child(ren). Not men, money, alcohol or anything else. I don't know about y'all, but I'm going to pray for this situation instead of trashing it. Hate never helps.

Top 10 Cell Phone Myths Explained {Switched.com}

Mar 16th 2008 4:03PM Why do we want cell phones to work on airplanes? I find solice in that moment when I'm told to turn off my cell phones and computer. It's peaceful. In a day and age where people can reach us, instantly, 24 hrs. a day, let's keep this myth going...true or not.

Women use cocaine and speed for weight-loss {That's Fit}

Oct 21st 2007 2:44PM The Heroin comment is so stupid I can't believe it's still posted. There isn't a reason in the world that Dr.'s should prescribe such a lethal drug. It would just add more problems. Such as, death, serious financial isssues and debt, addiction, deep mental disease and depression, loss of family and friends, loss of children (if you're a parent), loss of job and possible loss of life. And most likely, you'd still be overweight b/c you wouldn't want to work out. You just wouldn't care. You wouldn't care about anything.
Very few people (men, women, teens and in some cases, children) like what they see in the mirror. Aside from true obesity, I don't think drugs or any kind of medication, is the answer to this problem.
I think we all need to eat smaller portions of food. Eat healthy food. If you can, eat several small meals a day. Try to workout. Don't eat too close to bedtime. Eat breakfast. Snack on decently healthy food. I think everything in moderation is ok. For example, you can eat Pizza and McDonald's...Just eat 2 pieces of pizza once or twice and week and if you're eating at McDonald's, don't super size everything, order a happy meal or a regular sized meal. It's boring to eat carrots all of the time. I agree with that. So, eat pretzels and only have Dorito's, or whatever, once or twice a week. Everything in moderation. If you screw up, then start again tomorrow.
Exercising follows the same principals. You don't have to run marathons. Do little things like, park farther out in a parking lot. Take the stairs versus the elevator. If you're going to the 30th floor and that's too much for you, then climb as many flights as you can and take the elevator from that flight on. Take a 20-30 min. walk 3 times a week. Turn music on and dance around your house. Dance with your kids. It's more of a workout than you think and they'll love it.
We're not all going to look like Brad Pitt or be a size 2. What's wrong with being a size 12? Look around, you're not in the minority! Beint a size 2 is rare. Being a size 12 is pretty normal. Just try to be healthy and stay at the best resting weight for YOUR body. Don't judge your body type and weight with Cameron Diaz. You're not Cameron Diaz. Your body is built differently than hers is. Try to look a little farther into the mirror and see more than just your reflection. If you've had children, then of course your body is different now! Cameron Diaz hasn't had any babies yet. Be thankful that you are able to get pregnant and experience that joy. It's a gift.
Just do your personal best. That will change daily and that's ok. Try to think and live in moderation.
When you're really down about your body image, try to think of the millions of children in Africa (Ethiopia, Sudan, Darfur, Namibia, etc.) who would give anything to have the option of choosing between starvation or feeling "fat". We are so lucky that we can just have food or water whenever we desire.
Please look this up when you get and chance and I promise it will change your heart forever. Good luck everyone!
