Police haul HBO executive, husband off Delta Airlines flight (Gadling)

Jan 30th 2009 12:35AM How would you conservative Christians like it if your TV was not working when they planned to show the second coming of Christ. For the liberal, left, media types, Obama is the Second Coming. Thus, we should excuse this rich snob losing his temper.

If you will excuse the blunt approach. You are full of crap. I am now in Afghanistan, where I have spent 3 1/2 years on the Pak border. I was badly wounded in Viet Nam (1 1/2 years in the hospital). My three sons have served in Iraq, and one is returning soon. We are paying the price. Because the radical muslims are not about to back off, we have only two choices. Fight them here or fight them at home. You can stay home nice and safe and continue to spout your peacenik crap. My sons and I will protect you. Iran has been the most prolific sponser of terrorism for 30 years. Do you think their president will suddenly decide to give it up if we are nice to him? Yeah, right. Thanks for listening. Don

Swift-Boater Sunk (AOL Elections Blog)

Mar 29th 2007 12:17AM To Johnny McAfee and the rest of the Viet Nam veterans or Viet Nam Era veterans, I also served and was wounded. I spent 19 months and 12 days in the hospital getting my right foot put back on and healing a dozen other wounds. (John Kerry, with three purple hearts and no hospital time is a big joke.) With a badly crippled leg, I stayed on active duty for 10 years, commanding a company in the 82nd Airborne Division, before my wife's cancer caused me to leave the Army.

Right now I am in Afghanistan, at 61 years old. I have been here nearly 3 years, been ambushed once, and been in 7 close firefights, leading Afghan troops. My boys have won every fight. 95% of Afghan people want us here building up the country and fighting the Taliban. The defeatist news you hear is all BS. I also have a Masters Degree,a Bachelors Degree, and a Teaching Certification. I taught high school for 7 years, so I am not a dumb grunt.

I am not supporting Bush and the Republicans because of what they do for the veterans. I support them because they are doing the right thing when we are attacked in our own country, when we are staying home and minding our own business. We had no troops in Afghanistan or Iraq on 9/11. Did the enemy leave us alone? If we pull out, the enemy here in Afghanistan has pledged to attack us again in America. Are you people blind? Do you not see that this is not a fight that Bush asked for? It is a fight that was brought to us by the enemy, and we can only survive by taking the fight to the enemy. The one mistake Bush made is in not recognizing that Iran is the biggest trouble maker of all, and we will have to face them down at some point. The shame is that the American people do not have the guts to do the job. The Muslim extemeists have promised to destroy America. Are you going to sit back and wait for them to do it? Put you money and your ass on the line.

If you don't have the opportunity to come and serve again like I have, at least support those of us who do. Don't be a John Murtha/Nancy Pelosi/Chuck Hagel back-stabbing traitor. Anyone who gives comfort and encouragement to the enemy is a traitor. Passing the troop withdrawal deadline gave this exact encouragement to the enemy. Our Congress of the United States is 51% or 52% traitors, or they are blind idealists who cannot face the reality of the struggle we are in. If we are that gutless, we deserve to be destroyed. It is a good thing these people did not run things when Hitler was trying to take over. The world would have been his to take.

Wake up and smell the coffee. WE CANNOT WIN IN IRAQ in the way we would want to. But we must leave in a manner that will give those people a chance. And we cannot tell the enemy when we are leaving, or encourage them by not backing our commanders on the ground. Congress is not the Commander in Chief, and they should not try to be. We have a government with seperation of powers. If Bush is not doing the right thing, vote him out, or impeach him, but don't try to tell him or the Generals how to fight the war. If Congress doesn't have the guts to cut off funding, then quit playing their political, Bush-hating games, trying to make themselves look good.

Sorry to run on for so long. I just had a few minutes to get on the computer, and I am sick of seeing the hatred for Bush take a lot of good people down the wrong path. We must fight. We have no choice. This war on terrorism will be a long, long war. If we refuse to fight it, we will see a lot more destruction in America. They have promised us that. They believe we don't have the will to fight, and maybe they are right. I will do my part here in Afghanistan, and I just ask you at home not to betray me and my men.

Maybe if I make it through this fight, I will come home and start into politics. If I do, I will be like John McCain. I will speak the truth even if it means not getting elected. Hey, lets think about a John McCain/Fred Thompson ticket, a winning combination of good men.
Thanks, Don

Tribeca Review: When I Came Home (Cinematical)

Apr 26th 2006 5:38AM Viet Vet, Infantry, Ranger, Lt, 101st Abn, shot 3 times, bayoneted, then lost part of rt leg to a hand grenade, 19 1/2 months hospital time. My company wiped out. Now a gov't civilian in Afghanistan with a small Afghan battalion in the mountains near Gardez (southeast region near the Pakistan border). Been here two years. Ambushed last week with out a scratch. Been in several shooting & IED scrapes but no additional Purple Hearts yet. Three sons with multiple tours in Iraq (two are there now). Do you think I know what this is all about? I'm not saying suck it up because I know some can't. I adjusted & didn't know what PTSD was, but many did not adjust. But I also know that PTSD can be a good excuse for those who were weak before they ever went & some losers just use it for an excuse. I don't feel like anyone owes me anything. I turned 60 years old last December, & I am still toughing it out like I always do. But I feel for those of you who can't endure & hope you get the help you need. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
