Volcanic Ash Crisis Deepens in Europe (Politics Daily)
Apr 19th 2010 5:02AM Shortly after the big quake near Calexico, Calif., recently, a smaller quake hit near Cobb, in northern California. California has major fault lines, and in LA area they have been having many tremblings. The plates move, we all know that right? Nothing major happens with the inner earth that doesn't affect somewhere else. Whatever is happening with the 'venting' in Iceland may result in another disaster somewhere else. We think in local terms, miles or hundreds of miles, but looking at the Earth from very high up, one's perspective of distance gets illuminated when we're talking about plates, earthquakes and volcanos. I have made the choice of preparation. What happens if the big event takes place in our own backyard. Remember, it took only 4 days after Katrina for New Orleans to become an anarchy of lawlessness with looters, rapists and murderers. I am buying survival supplies, like clothing, outdoor utensils and pots, stuff the military sells in Army Surplus stores. Oh, I'm not going all out, but I would like to be prepared to a reasonable extent, whatever "reasonable" might mean, if something major happens, like a 9.2 or higher earthquake in the California SF Bay area. Like in 1902 when SF was destroyed. Don't you think it is prudent to at least be individually prepared?
Student Braves Controversy, Refuses to Recite Pledge (ParentDish)
Nov 17th 2009 9:57AM If Americans would take off their blinders they would see that this country has a hypocritical and discriminatory policy applying a caste system where the rich and powerful rule and the rest of Americans accept it. How far does this country have to fall before we realize that Congress is controlled by the rich and powerful and their decisions have brought this country to down in the eyes of the world, and among ourselves. Love for this country means that we reject intolerance, hate-mongering, and fascist or oligarchical ideologies. We look for solutions to preventing and reducing crime, not locking up half of America. We look for ways to put Americans back to work, not send out businesses to other countries. We look for ways to get the illegal immigrants out of this country, not give them access to our social security and other tax-supported benefits. We do not turn this country into a socialist or oligarchical nation. Those who say, Love this country or get out need to take their blinders off and see the reality of our nation today.
On 'Hardball': Is There Really a Split Between Obama and the Left? (Politics Daily)
Sep 1st 2009 1:31AM Sorry, I didn't write this. I'm just agreeing with it and posting it. And I'm not a drug user. There are lots of areas of employment that require random drug tests, or even regular drug tests, not because the individual has a history but because of the sensitive nature of the employment. The fact is that there are hundreds of thousands of welfare recipients who don't deserve to be there, many women just pop out babies with no regard to pregnancy prevention and get more welfare money, many recipients are drug users, and if being employed in a field where drug testing is required to earn that paycheck, why not require high risk welfare recipients to test before they get your hardearned money?
Woman Jailed For Dragging Kid on Leash (ParentDish)
Aug 6th 2009 4:05AM Anyone can see this child wanted to be dragged by his mommy. He probably thought it was actually kind of fun. This was likely play for both kid and parent, no harm done. You certainly don't see this kid objecting, fighting it, trying to get up, crying or screaming. The big problem in this country is we have got too many unreasonable laws against adequate disciplining of our children. Just look at the kids today, with their angry-looking attitudes, terrible dress styles, looking like a bunch of hoodlums. Kids need discipline, even spankings, to help them learn good manners.
War On Christmas: Pelosi Mugged? (Politics Daily)
Dec 10th 2008 12:39PM All this hubbub about religion! When the subject comes up, I am never far away from the fact that whoever began Catholicism entered the arena with a get-rich-and-powerful plan. In a time when the vast ignorant-and-superstitious were looking for etheral answers to explain the unknown, a wannabe religious leader stepped up with a good plan: create a religion based on God, set forth a list of rules for do's and don't's, tell the flock to try to be good according to the rules but if they can't to come to church for Confession and they'll be blessed and forgiven and advised again to try to be good, and let them go out for another week and sin sin sin, and return for another Confession session. And, of course, bring money to the church. Then when this concept caught on and the church began to get rich, the new "Pope" sent its "missionaries" across the globe to save the "poor ignorant masses" in places like Central and South America, and, oh by the way, don't forget to enslave them in mines so they can dig for gold for the Church. True despotism and genius combined. Then the "papacy" insinuated itself into the highest of the governments, "advised" the emperors and kings, and helped to murder the unbelievers by the thousands. In this country, Christianity seems to be substituting its previous notions of forgiveness with intolerance and hate, while the core of Islamnic fundamentalism is to murder all the disbelievers (infidels) so that the men can take their place in Paradise with as many naked women as they want. What would we non-believers say if the Pope issued an edict for all Christians to murder all non-believers? Perhaps the world would be better off without religion. I am reminded of the religions with their "offices" in Jerusalem near the "wailing wall", each of which profess to be the ONLY true path to "God". If there is ONLY ONE, then that makes ALL of them false based on that single flaw of believing they are the ONLY path. "Don't do unto others as you would not have them do unto you" seems a "moral compass" sufficient for us all, rather than the various trappings, pomp and circumstance of "religion." We are such a gullible bunch of beings; it only takes a new preacher with a passion to become a renowned televangelist making millions of dollars from the block. Wake up, people.
Five Online Daters To Avoid (3) (Switched)
Oct 10th 2007 6:53PM In my 50's I tired of being unable to find someone without a string of baggage, so I went online to AsiaFriendFinders and began chatting with Asian women. I was upfront with my profile. I didn't want anyone who needed to have children because I didn't want to start a family so late. I found one lovely lady in her early 30's. We had computer cams and voice, and we 'dated' for about 6 months. We had a wonderful time. I went to China and married her. Stupid? Not at all. She is now here in USA with me, and has been for 2 years. We have a true love that is real and dynamic. This was the best decision I ever made. There is no question that we each found our soulmate. My life is blessed, and new blessings are a normal part of our life together. ... Carl
