Price for a 2009 Honda Civic 1.8 liter with manual transmission is $19,100 with equipment even close to the Jetta whose starting price is $22, 970 with a $1300 tax credit and free maintenance for 3 years or 36, 000 miles.


The Civic has a 4 cubic feet less cargo volume and less front and rear legroom. The Civic is more of a compact car in size while the Jetta is more of a midsize sedan in size.

The resale value of a Jetta TDI is also estimated much higher.

Sorry but that engine is completely different. Germany is still using the PD TDI (1.9l) and we are getting the CR TDI(2.0l). We really can not compare those different engines. Also, the DSG 6 speed transmission achieves the same numbers as a full manual transmission.

Jul 9th 2007 4:52PM I think 45-50 mpg is city driving for a new diesel Rabbit. Expect about 60 mpg highway since that is what VWoA has announced for the boxier and heavier 2008 diesel Jetta.

Jun 26th 2007 8:04PM I bought a Vizio brand 42" Plazma TV and am thrilled by the picture quality and the price was only $799. One note, make sure you get a TV with built in speakers or you will regret having to hook up a home theater system just to play sound for your new TV. My TV has built in speakers. I do love the sound of a home theater Phillips system I set up with it when I play DVDs. Also, make sure the TV has HDMI compatibility and can show 1080i picture quality. Good luck.

Apr 16th 2007 8:29PM YES! Way to go Volkswagen. We desperately need all cars to get much better fuel mileage. Let's hope VW brings a diesel hybrid to the U.S. that gets around 100 mpg. I will be in line to purchase one of those vehicles.
