Silda Wall, a.k.a. Mrs. Eliot Spitzer: 'I Wasn't Adequate' (Politics Daily)

Apr 25th 2010 4:24PM It's a heartbreaking - and horrifying - comment to read.

Of course, she WAS adequate. That may have been the whole problem. He needed, I suspect, to feel MORE adequate, to be freed of his responsibility in the bargain between them. What wife, no matter how sexy and special, can compete with the idea of unattached sex? If a man simply has to retain that possibility from his bachelor days, maybe he shouldn't be married in the first place. But then there's the desire for children. Do we need some new model of relationship where a man commits to his children, but not to their mother? As a practical matter, that seems to be how many married men live their lives.
Either way, it's hard to see what more she could have done.

Surveillance Cams Don't Reduce Crime, Study Finds (Switched)

Sep 23rd 2007 1:47PM As is too often true, the headline steers the reader towards an idea that is never stated in the article.

The article talks about UNSOLVED crimes, without saying a word about the crime rate per se. If there have been less crimes since cameras were put up, then, yes, cameras would be having an impact on crime whether or not the crimes that are still committed get solved. But we don't know if that's the case or not.

The article is about clear-up rates, not the rise or decline in crimes actually committed. The headline screams out a conclusion that has nothing to do with the article that follows.
