Canadians Forced to Apologize for Celebrating (Fanhouse Olympics Blog)

Feb 26th 2010 9:21PM They're entitled to celebrate their win.

Now honestly, the booze and cigars should have been saved for either the dressing room, their hotel or wherever they decided to go (bar, nightlcub, etc), but to make a huge deal out of it, especially when they were exceedingly cordial to the second place US team, is silly. There are far bigger issues with this Olympics than people being happy they won a gold medal.

Sledders Should Fear Foes, Not Venue (Fanhouse Olympics Blog)

Feb 26th 2010 8:48PM I agree with the author. This course was a serious problem before the games even started.

It's the Olympics, it's supposed to be hard, I understand that. But if the best of the best are wiping out in droves, one after the other, (like in this case) then no, it's not just the athlete, the course is poorly designed.

ESPN Suspends Tony Kornheiser Over Hannah Storm Comments (Fanhouse Backporch)

Feb 24th 2010 1:33AM What he was a little off base but I think this is being taken too far. I don't know what ESPN's reaction has been in the past to this kind of stuff, but I really hope this wasn't because they were afraid of a sexual harassment suit. What he said was rude, and he owed her an apology, but I'd hardly say it qualifies as sexual harassment, and to label it such is just further showing how frivolous some of these cases are becoming.

Frank Mir Wants Brock Lesnar to Die in the Octagon (MMA Fighting)

Feb 23rd 2010 12:35AM UFC is a gritty, tough, brutal sport. It's only natural that opponents might talk trash when they're fighting each other on a regular basis, and for the most part I don't see a problem with that. It's fighting, not figure skating.

This, however, is too far. Frank Mir might wish that the Octagon is the sands of the Colosseum, but sorry, it ain't. You're a 21 century athlete. Wishing that your opponent dies in the ring is poor form, period, and Mir is a giant hypocrite for saying Lesner is a bad role model after making that kind of remark. No one's asking him to say things he doesn't mean and be fake, but there are plenty of things he could have said to sum up his hatred for Lesner other than that.

Tiger Woods' Mistress Wants an Apology, Too (Fanhouse Backporch)

Feb 20th 2010 2:16PM She got no apology because she doesn't deserve one. She knew full well he was married and got involved with him anyway. Her lawyer's statement says it all:

"He lead her to believe she was the only woman in his life, OTHER THAN HIS WIFE"

Are you kidding me? For her to try and play the victim is beyond disingenuous. It takes two people to have an affair and as far as I'm concerned, she owes Elin an apology.

My Left Breast Put Fancy TSA Scanner to the Test (Politics Daily)

Feb 10th 2010 7:31PM This incident further cements my belief that these machines are a pointless invasion of privacy.

How many people are going to be stopped because of some benign (but rather personal) issue like a breast replacement or something of that ilk?

Folks the bottom line is this: These scanners WILL NOT stop the next attack.
These scanners are a static defense that doesn't change. A static defense can be analyzed until a weakness is found and exploited (several already have been).

You want to actually stop terrorism? Talk to Israel, they the best counter-terrorism units in the world.

Despite Hasty Exit, Peyton Manning Still Class Act (Fanhouse NFL Blog)

Feb 9th 2010 9:16PM Manning should have congratulated Brees, although to be fair, this wasn't a normal game. they don't BUILD A STAGE and swarm the field with thousands of people to celebrate your victory (or your defeat, in Manning's case) in most NFL games. This obviously makes it a bit harder, both emotionally and practically: Brees was SURROUNDED by people.

Now, should Peyton have at least tried? Yes. But is he a classless jerk for being just a bit not in the mood to push through dozens of celebrating opponents after losing the Superbowl? I think that's a bit harsh. He's not perfect, but i'd hardly condemn him just for this.

Chris Barnes: The Guy Who Lost to a Girl (Fanhouse Main)

Jan 31st 2010 2:58AM This article is the classic overreaction to an overreaction:

Would it be somewhat over-zealous to take this event and run the headline "WOMEN CONQUER THE WORLD OF SPORTS IN STUNNING DEFEAT OF ALL MEN!!"

yeah just a tad, which I'm sure some people are basically doing, and that's really what the author is getting at. It's bowling, not a NHL game.

At the same time, I'm a guy, and even I find statements like "If the best female in the world can beat the best male in the world, it doesn't qualify" a little on the blatantly sexist side. I'm in pretty good shape ( 4 mile run, 80 push-ups, 15 pull-ups? no prob) and I've met some female athletes (amateurs like myself) that stunned me in how well they could keep up. Could they BEAT me? Who knows, but to be as dismissive as this article is just plain arrogant.

Brit Hume: Tiger Woods Should 'Turn to the Christian Faith' (Politics Daily)

Jan 4th 2010 10:04AM Wow, way to take a shot at someone else's faith Brit Hume. Do you know ANYTHING at all about Buddhist faith?? Who let this clown on the air to begin with?

Levi Johnston, Put Your Pants On (Politics Daily)

Nov 29th 2009 10:48PM Excuse me, but there are plenty of celebrities with children who have posed nude before, so to hang Levi out to dry for it seems just a tad unfair.

The man was thrown face first into a celebrity status he never bargained for. Is he perfect, not at all, but I doubt you are either, so what exactly gives you the right to pass such scathing judgment? You're trying to pass yourself off as a journalist. Act like you could be one.
