Oct 17th 2007 5:18PM I really feel bad for this family. We are animal lovers and have several dogs and a few cats. One of our dogs is from a Puppy Mill and he is a challenge. We have 3 rescued cats. When we got our first one, we had a really hard time. Even though the feed store the rescue was set up in could say how we are with our animals the rescue still gave us a hard time. Their reason was because we had 2 college age children!! We were stunned. Yes there are people out there who do not teach their children how to care for animals. Yes there are college kids who are irresponsible, but it is wrong to not give a pet to a family because of that reason. Our children were raised with pets and we even had references. In the end we did get SugarBear, but it just amazes me the hassle we received.
The rescue agency involved in this situation is wrong. There is no reason whatsoever to NOT give a family a dog because they have kids under a certain age. The dog was given to a good family be Ellen and should be returned to them

Sep 7th 2007 9:20PM I purchased my one Cocker on-line. The breeder and I coresponded for a few weeks and got familiar with each other. You can check the AKC and ACA websites and check on the breeder you are interested in purchasing from. He was home raised and the breeder has both parents. I would recommend her and buy from her again. If you do your homework before making an internet purchase, you won't get scammed. You just need to check out the people or business you find what you want at. I do believe in rescue. We rescued 2 of our other dogs and 3 cats. Animals are a great joy in life and I love all of our dogs and cats.
