Big Ten Network to Most of Iowa: "Iowa-Iowa State Game? Not Yours." {Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog}

Jul 3rd 2008 12:06PM I don't know how big this game is to the BTN just because one state wants to watch it. Sorry, but lord knows most other states really don't care about it. The funny thing, though, is people are probably going to blame this all on the BTN just like they did all last season (as a Michigan fan, I watched several other Michigan fans online whine because they just didn't have DirecTV). Like you said, the BTN isn't the only party involved. BTN is a great channel and I'm not sure what every other provider's problem has been with picking it up, but the fact that it now exists isn't the sole reason why people can't see all the games they want to (Iowa is the one with the weird massive cable service provider while it seems most everyone else has either satellite a la DirecTV or Comcast). Honestly, what's more annoying is the damn regional broadcasting blocks ESPN and ABC do, because if you're, say, an Iowa fan living in CA WITHOUT something like BTN you DEFINITELY won't be seeing some of your games (like I said, no one else cares about Iowa/Iowa State, so that could definitely be subject to a regional block and you could end up with Oregon/Oregon State instead).

Teacher Really Loves Baseball, Sleeps With Eight Players on High School Team {Fanhouse Backporch}

Jun 26th 2008 2:14PM How do you AOL bloggers even GET these jobs anyway? There are people with graduate degrees out there walking around, struggling to get jobs. Or, better yet, there are people who can actually write, do opinion pieces and report news without it sounding like some crap on some nobody's blogspot who would never be able to get jobs like these. It's not even just the sports section that is this bad, either (although a COUPLE writers in this section can write). Tell me, who did YOU have sex with to get this gig???

Don Imus on Adam Jones: 'What Color Is He?' {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Jun 23rd 2008 5:06PM Please, people always want to point out that blacks (which, really, is basically black men) commit a disproportionate amount of crime, then whine about "honesty" and political correctness. But what no one ever wants to acknowledge is that whites (white men) commit the worst crimes in history on a regular basis. Slavery, concentration camps, serial killers, Columbine, Bush stealing the 2000 election and sending US soldiers to kill Iraqis for no reason, etc. Whenever you hear some story like women being locked in a basement for years and years raped repeatedly and/or a man impregnating his own daughter 7 or 8 times, you already know that's a white man...and THAT deserves a "Well, there you go" when you hear about THOSE stories. Black men just do relatively simple crimes like rob liquor stores and houses, shoot each other and get into fights at clubs. So get off it, hypocrites.

Vince Young: Shirtless, Swilling at a Party? {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

May 17th 2008 6:51PM Looks like a black gay club. Men don't dance shirtless like that, especially all up on each other, except in gay clubs.

Hillary Doesn't Sound Like She's Quitting {Political Machine Blog}

May 13th 2008 10:45PM Although I do believe the majority of Hillary's supporters are racist and that racism has gotten her as far as she is, I still hate to see that she has obviously been defeated though she won't admit it because I know that Obama cannot win against McCain...largely because of racism. This is the "symbolic" victory that Hillary's campaign was out to prove tonight, and they basically did...as have her victories in places like Texas, Pennsylvania and Ohio before WV--crucial election states that Obama would not be able to carry because of white working-class and elderly citizens, Asians and Latinos, and angry white gays. Obama does well in states with a lot of blacks, fake white liberals and/or Republicans playing games with the Democratic primary by switching parties to vote. Clinton gets every other group--she has proven this, but nobody wants to listen. In November, Democrats will be crying just like in 2004 when their selfishness cost them the election.

The last thing we need is another 4-8 years of a Republican President. If anybody should have quit--or, actually, not even have gotten in the race in the first place--it's Obama. Now Hillary's stuck fighting an uphill battle that she can't win, one that she surely would have if it weren't for Obama. People try to make Hillary seem like the bad guy (or woman) for "dragging this out," but she's one of the few people who has been logical/realistic throughout this whole process. She is simply the best choice for America right now, and our best hope of getting rid of the Republicans and getting the economy/jobs back on track. It amazes me how, once again, America has gotten it wrong. There is absolutely no reason for a Republican to have an easy path to the White House this year, after everything we've been through because of Bush. You'd think they'd learn from the last election, but... (shrugs)

Do young people like Coca-Cola anymore? {BloggingStocks}

Apr 10th 2008 3:50PM I don't think that's a well-established fact, but my experience definitely is Southerners prefer Coke...not so much Coke products, but Coke is #1 in terms of any "soda." I grew up loving Coke and still love it, and I'm fairly young (in my 20s). Mountain Dew and Sunkist are also two of my favorites, both being Pepsi products. But I will just never drink or prefer Pepsi, and neither MD or Sunkist totally compare to Coke. Still, I just don't see what the big tragedy would be if people aren't into Coke as much anymore.

Departing OL Justin Boren's Father to Ohio State: 'Take My Son, Please' {Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog}

Yeah. Like we really care at Michigan.

Attack of the Soda Machine {AOL Video Blog}

Mar 20th 2008 7:24PM Wow, I really just can't believe how evil people are. Next thing you know, every time someone gets shot and a camera happens to be on, that'll end up online for people to laugh at. Freaks.

Barack Obama Picks North Carolina to Win the NCAA Tournament {Fanhouse NCAA Basketball Blog}

Mar 20th 2008 6:27PM Dude, who CARES who he picked? I get so tired of hearing about him. And the fact that he has time to know anything about NCAA basketball...isn't he a politician? Is he running for President? GO DO YOUR JOB AND GET OFF THE COUCH! Why don't we just pick some fat, bald, beer-guzzling, chips-eating, wife-ignoring guy to be President--oh, wait, that's nearly every man in the US! One more illustration this guy isn't anything special, let alone qualified. And then the fact that he has time for something relatively silly like that but claims he is far too busy to make it to the State of the Black Union shows me he's a liar.

Richard Williams Calls Tennis Racist ... Again {Fanhouse Backporch}

Mar 20th 2008 6:22PM I'm pretty sure he's not talking about the ability to play tennis, have fans or get endorsements. He's probably talking about behind-the-scenes treatment within tennis circles, stuff that the average person never gets to see or hear about. You held your tongue on everything else he said because you knew you'd get called a racist for jumping to shoot that stuff down, as you probably want to do as a white man, but, as comments here and the rest of your response show, white people can never completely keep from pointing out something that is only half of the story to demonstrate that racism is not the issue the person says it is.
