The Starbucks Via Taste Test -- Is it really better than your mother's instant coffee? (WalletPop)
Feb 18th 2009 10:47AM Instant coffee is no good. For a great home cup, I bought a Braun used espresso maker at Goodwill for $5.00. Mine was complete, but I see them without the carafe all the time and you really don't need it - you can just use a mug. I buy Cafe' Bustelo espresso in the 10 ounce can at Wal-Mart for under $4.00. I prefer Coffee-mate Itailian Sweet Creme, but any creamer or even milk will work. All in all, I make a better latte at home than Starbucks does, for a lot less money.
Best Sci-Fi Movies of All Time (Moviefone Blog)
Jan 2nd 2009 6:37PM I like this list, but not because of the choices. I like reading all of the comments so I can find a few more Sci-Fi movies I need to see! Thanks, all, for the suggestions. Most of the one's I would have mentioned are already here. Just a few I wanted to remind folks about, some you may think are good, some not so much:
The Quiet Earth
They Live
Brainstorm
The 6th Day
Paycheck
The Impostor
Time After Time
(Okay, you got me - I like PKD movies and Malcolm McDowell as an actor.)
I love sci-fi movies the most, but some of my favorite movies, like Fearless with Jeff Bridges, and The Life of David Gale with Kevin Spacey, and Stir of Echoes with Kevin Bacon aren't sci-fi, now, are they?
I assume everyone here knows about www.IMDB.com, but just in case...
Sneaky Trojan Horse Swipes Data on 500,000 Bank Accounts (Switched)
Nov 3rd 2008 10:04PM Moron Russians thats where all the problem starts. George Bush is probably involved in this kind of probaganda. Face it your no where safe not on the internet soon as you step out the house shots are fired so my best advice open as many checking and savings account and put minimum amount of money in those accounts. Then at the same time open up open Money market account that does not have any link to your checking or savings nor any thing that has to do with internet. I hope that helps. Any question regarding this comment send your letters to George Bush the monkey.

Nov 3rd 2008 9:49PM I recommend downloading AVG Anti-virus and Spy-Bot Search and Destroy. They are both free. I have used them for years and never had any problem at all. I am also surprised at the number of people that do not know how to do simple computer upkeep like Windows Internet Explorer: (Tools> Internet Options> Delete> Delete All...> Yes), Disk Cleanup, and Disk Defragmenter. Keep these things going and you will not have to deal with spyware and viruses and slow-downs and the like.
Sam's Club offers $1-a-week membership (WalletPop)
Oct 17th 2008 3:28PM I just heard that Costco is selling $100 Starbucks cards for $80. I may re-join just for that!
Escalators can be deadly (WalletPop)
May 16th 2008 4:08PM I love the late Mitch Hedberg's bit about how escalators are never truly broken, they just become stairs. "The escalator is out of order - sorry for the convenience!"

May 14th 2006 11:46PM wow - that comment made it - so now I'll try my original one again - I love Will and Grace - but I'm not gay - 'not that there is anything wrong with that.; (anyone remember where that came from?) But I miss the show "Ned and Stacy" with the mechanic guy from Wings and the same actress that plays Grace - great show with very little if none of the sexual comedy. Funny show - didn't last long - anyone?

May 14th 2006 11:39PM Does ay-oh-el employees actually read every one of these postings and cut the bad postings? That's a lot of reading and cutting, I think. Maybe they have their own "key-words" :) Come on, just smile, whoever you are that read this and cut it.

May 14th 2006 11:23PM Okay, I'm not trying to defend (or offend) Mr. L #5. I think I'm pretty open minded and love Will and Grace. But I'm not gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...)
But seriously, I liked the sitcom "Ned and Stacy" with that mechanic guy from Wings and the same actress that plays Grace. There was almost no sex jokes - just good writing - should've lasted longer. Anyone else remember it?
Which sweetener is your favorite? (Slashfood)
Apr 7th 2006 7:35AM I personally continue to drink Diet Caffeine-Free Diet Coke because 1) I like the taste better than regular - hard to switch back once you made the switch. 2) I need to avoid any extra calories I can, being about 6'1" and 270#. 3) Caffeine is a natural diuretic so DCCC is closer to water for hydration, but water is always better.
I wanted to mention the migraine comment - I assume most people with migraines know this but just in case: There are different triggers for migraines for different people. Some items are worse than others: high-stress incidents, MSG, smells like perfumes, and aspartame. Anyone with frequent unexplained migraines should be altering their diets and habits to try to find a source - most doctors will advise this. But it has nothing to do with the previous cancer scare. And yes, most things in excess can cause health problems including cancer.
If you drink a case of Diet Coke, regular Coke, beer, or lemonade for that matter, it's going to catch up with you. Even too much water will cause problems.
If you like your diet drink, enjoy! If you prefer and can have sugar, enjoy! Just don't go overboard. And try other things - I like sugar cereal, aspartame in my Coke, saccharine in my coffee, and I'm going to try this stevia and Splenda.
Oh, and for anyone that needs to switch to diet cola but dislikes it, do what my buddy said - drink it every meal for one week. At the end of the week, you suddenly realize it isn't bad. About another week, it is good. Then try drinking regular and you won't like it. At least that's what happened for me and some of my family and friends.
Take care - stay sweet!
