I'm Asexual (and Why It's Not That Bad Not to Want Sex) (Lemondrop)
Oct 18th 2009 2:17AM I say good for you, to everyone out there who is comfortable with themselves. To everyone making some big deal out of "normal"... what the hell is normal?
I'm happy to be "healthy"!
Do You Fart in Front of Your Guy? (Lemondrop)
Oct 18th 2009 2:02AM My other half is gone now, but I will say some of the things that aggravated me the most when he was alive are the things I miss the most now... they were real and we laughed a lot! Our whole family are unrepentant farters... no, somehow they don't leak out in public or at work and I have no idea how that is even possible, but they don't.
At home there have been what we affectionately coined the "flying fart", the "two-story fart" (actually that one was my son), and the "pants poof" -- and then there was the "flan intervention" that was perpetrated against me because of the effect my favorite dessert had on my gastric system. I was kind of mad at the time, but looking back I love the fact that my family had a sense of humor and loved me enough to tell me.
Lighten up everybody, it's just the wind.

Oct 4th 2009 12:51AM to scr who said "AOL puts a rape case under entertainment."
it's a rape case and probably a witch hunt... that equals money, publicity and entertainment

Polanski Agreed to Pay Victim $500K, but Records Indicate He Stalled (PopEater)
Oct 4th 2009 12:31AM More than likely the vast majority of posters here were NOT aware of or maybe not even alive when this case was current, I was, and I stayed on top of the case because it was happening in my community and because I was a young woman, too.
So many people make statements like "plied a 13 yr old (child) with alcohol in order to rape her. They were both drinking and getting high, which is what an awful lot of people do, especially then, before engaging in sex.
Before Samantha was prepped for the courthouse, that "child" and her friends dressed and looked older than me and I was over 21 at the time. Would it have been smart to find out how old she was for sure, absolutely! But her behavior (and mom's) suggested she was of consensual age.
People, think about things, the press is making lots of noise about how common it is for rape victims to go after monetary restitution to explain why this mother and now the "girl" has put SO much effort into the money.
Hey women out there who have been raped, tell the truth, what's most important to YOU? getting the rapists money? or getting the bastard and wanting to feel safe and clean again?
Get real.
I am a mother, my oldest is 29 and my youngest 12. If some Hollywood director came to me and talked about involving my "baby" in a photo shoot for ANY magazine, I'd be damned if I wouldn't be RIGHT THERE with them. There would be NO OPPORTUNITY for these alleged abuses to take place. This woman... "sure, great idea, take off with my daughter! Bring her home later." Who lets a "child" go off unescorted with a strange adult man?
Sounds like the Britney Spears mother to me. She knew what was going on and she pimped her kid out for a shot at a movie deal and when that didn't work out for money.
Polanski clearly thought she was older, and of consensual age... even Samantha stated he asked her if she was on the pill, for God sake!
If the things described and alleged against Polanski REALLY happened as is being publicized to me or one one of my children, NO AMOUNT OF MONEY would smooth it over.
As a Christian, I might be able to forgive it... but he'd be getting my forgiveness from a jail cell.
I think the guy ran when it was clear the judge who made a plea deal with him planned on renegging... that was the only reason he pled guilty to begin with, a plea bargain, and he didn't plead guilty to all these charges, he pled to unlawful sex with a minor (yes, a minor)after he found out how old she was.
Hey guys? How many of you have had that unsettling close call with a girl you found out was too young, but didn't seem to be? How many of you DID it, but didn't get caught? Did you turn yourselves in?
Sounds like a lot of holier than thou sour grapes hypocrites shouting for blood to me.

Oct 3rd 2009 4:14PM First, I lived in Hollywood during that period of time. I worked at Schwab's Pharmacy lunch counter, Polankski was an occasional patron and I remember the girl also. No one would have thought she was 13 yrs old by the way she dressed or behaved. (I am not suggesting that women or girls who dress provocatively are asking for or deserve to be raped) What I am saying is she sure didn't look 13! No one would have guessed.
I remember the case well and her mom was pretty much serving her up to forward her "modeling" career. During the trial they rubbed off the make-up and stuck her in a peter pan collar to make her appear more childlike and innocent. C'mon, mom's the one that cut the original deal for the money, shouldn't that speak to what this was really about to begin with?
There IS a difference between predators that go hunting for children and people that do not exercise the best of judgment and get caught up in things over their head.
Yes, I think the girl is a victim... but more of her mothers' than Polankski's.
When Michelle Met Barack: Is There a Lesson For Single Women? (BV Black Spin)
Jun 16th 2009 3:57PM To Shay,
In case you haven't noticed Pres. Obama has only been in office a few months. Our retirements, pensions, jobs... ad nauseum, were in trouble LONG before he even ran for office.
As a matter of fact much of the reason he was elected, I am sure, in the first place is due to the horrible state of affairs the Bushist's left us with. Even Superman (ANY color of Superman) couldn't fix the unGodly incompetece and greed of the last regime in 3 months time.
In my Op, it's kind of nice to see leadership that walks the talk in his personal life as well as in his professional life. I'm not obsessed with the First Family, but it sure beats headlines about the First Daughters drunken night clubbing.
To Mary,
you LOVE TO GIVE YOUR OPINION ABOUT WHAT A JERK THIS GUY IS? oops, YOU'RE ignorance is showing
To Ken,
please begin boycotting soon.
Just MY op folks.
Fatburger founder dies at the age of 96 (Slashfood)
Feb 6th 2008 8:12PM RIP dear Lovie.... Unabashedly and unashamedly I thoroughly enjoyed your king bacon fatburger with cheese and pickles, chocolate shakes and crispy fries. Thank you for the wonderful memories both on my palate and in my social life (one could always count on Fatburger for fine music on the jukebox).
Three generations of us -- me, my children and now their grandchildren) enjoyed Fatburger and somehow we escaped obesity and high cholesterol!
God bless you and yours.

How Old is Too Old for Today's Fashion Trends? (oldstylelist)
Oct 11th 2007 6:41PM I am 53, Eurasian and look young for my age. When I worked in the corporate world I wore the suits and make-up that went along with the job but now thankfully rarely need to shed my jeans and vintage Mickey tee, as I work from home.
'Dressy' for me these days would be my best jeans, twill jacket, a crisp shirt with upturned collar, fave Cole Hahn little heels and lipstick.
I believe dress should reflect who we are... and complement what we 'do' not distract from it, so what might be appropriate for a great looking mid-50ish bank manager could be radically different than what is appropriate for a great looking mid-50ish dance instructor.
Those of us that could use a little forgiveness here or there can still be fashionable and sexy without baring rolling love handles and belly piercings over low rise jeans. (that's not sexy at any age anyway) - it's not what we can afford, but how we put what we have together that makes us stand out. A few well chosen pieces are always better than a closet full of junk.
Hopefully as we grow older, we grow less slavish to the current fad and more comfortable in our own skins and that comfort and self confidence will shine through transforming even the most casual of styles into something unique and attractive.
I have 2 'only' sons, (there is almost 18 years separating my boys) the youngest being 10 yrs old. Most of the other moms at my youngest's school are early 30's to maybe mid 40's and no one has any idea I am 15 to 20+ years older than they are and a grandmother now to boot.
