An Unpopular View on Kelley Williams-Bolar: Williams-Bolar Is NOT A Political Prisoner (BV on Money)
Jan 28th 2011 6:00PM I agree that a law was broken but the long term consequences are far more disastrous than the short term issue.
She wanted her kids in a better school district. As a fledgling educator I'm sure she knew first hand that her children would be dis-serviced by being in a lower performing school district with less funding which means less everything that a child needs.
So now after being in a crummy neighborhood, the spectacle of a conviction on her record, and now her career and future earnings are jeopardized... She definitely can't get out of her neighborhood anytime soon nor is she "allowed" to provide a better education for her children so they can do better or at least be on an equal footing with a child that lives in a higher earning school district.
My stance is yes a law has been broken but where is the justice being done by this law? Who is it protecting and who is it hurting? Lets not ignore that the basis of this issue is HAVEs vs. HAVE NOTs. This law and others like it are nothing but ways to keep people divided and over what... access to education?
She is no bank robber, murderer etc so lets just put this issue in perspective. And while I agree that we can proactively donate time to helping under-served communities and that would be more effective, I think its shortsighted to tell folks don't get all up in arms about it because its not a racial issue. It is a classic case of institutional racism PERIOD.
And yes I am a dad, and no my child is not in an under-served community nor does he go to a low performing school so I'm not as affected as you may think from my comment. I'm more outraged that access to education is still an issue and the application of the law is so blind and damaging overall.
Steve Harvey: Taking The High Road Regarding Ex-Wife's Salacious Smear Campaign (BV Newswire)

Other than that correct your spelling before you take to the internet to comment on someone's life.
The Web's Biggest Scams: From 419 to the Hitman (Switched)
Jan 25th 2011 11:52AM The post purchase scam is particularly annoying and the good thing is that they have to get your explicit permission. I tried ordering a gift for my son from a well known magician who was selling a "magic kit" through television and online. After my purchase, which coincidentally never arrived... the customer service dept called me up to "confirm" my order details and sign me up for a "no-risk" gas card etc etc. I had to deny this repeatedly. Its like NO was not part of the script they use. After denying it and refusing it and asking for my original purchase about 5-10 times, they hung up on me.
I figured since I wasn't billed and I didn't receive what I ordered so no harm no foul. But it will be a cold day in hell when I opt in for some bull that I don't need/want
Patricia Kluge: Billionaire's Ex-Wife Faces Foreclosure (Luxist)
Jan 25th 2011 11:02AM What a big time moron... delusional in thinking that amassing a fortune during marriage and divorce makes her some kind of instant mogul and she is qualified to make sound decisions in business.
While in a lot of cases it takes money to make money, you just can't throw good after bad money.
and regarding her being paid 1.6 million a week, when is the madness going to stop with these divorces? Thats just a ridiculous amount to award someone just for being married. There are people that do lots of good things in life and get nothing for it, meanwhile this fool squandered millions frivolously.
iPad's orientation lock to mute switch change will be permanent (TUAW.com)
Nov 30th 2010 11:51AM I am continually more and more upset with Apple as a customer. I feel like once they lure you in with the shiny and the pizzaz of the product, you end up short changed in terms of the experience. At this point, I'm glad I haven't updated my iPad yet and I don't think I'm going to unless they force me to for some BS reason.
Separation Saga: Usher's Relationship With Tameka Gets Chaotic (Blackvoices Main)
Oct 26th 2008 11:32AM Usher is a silly dude for even being with that woman. Seriously... I'm a man and I couldn't do it. He is going to get whatever he deserves for making such an ill advised move. He essentially has made or is about to make her rich. Sometimes momma knows best.

Jena Six Anniversary: How Things Have Changed (Blackvoices Main)
Sep 21st 2008 8:49PM Youth crime has doubled in the last 10 years. More and more kids are being arrested for serious violent crimes and the end is no where in sight.
Everyone will not be saved. As long as we have a culture where a man's worth is judged by how violent he can be and prison is viewed as finishing school by today's inner city youth... this will continue.
Teen Trades Hacked iPhone for Car (Switched)
Aug 28th 2007 5:16PM What is stupid, is that this is probably not allowable under the EULA. I expect a lawsuit for reverse engineering at some point. Surprised not yet.
I'm guessing Certicell will not be able to do anything with this. At the end of the day what Certicell gave him for the phone is meaningless imo.
Though I'm not taking anything off of him for doing it. Great use of his time. At least he got something cool for it.
Why bother though Certicell if its not going to be commercially viable? Oh I get it, this is cheap PR. Certicell is now on every news and tech website...
