Jan 22nd 2008 4:28PM I don't think people are gonna see Tech Forward as a feasible option to dumping it in the trash. People just aren't buying into the 'paying to recyle' idea when things are as tough as they are. It is one thing to set a recycling bin on the curb, but quite another to pay a couple years in advance for recycling a chunk of metal. New Co giving store credit for items. Now that's an idea even if its only a couple bucks. Lets just hope we aren't giving it to someone to ship to a dump overseas in a 3rd world country!

Fast food secrets you don't want to know (That's Fit)

Dec 28th 2006 5:06PM I too worked at KFC when I was 15 under a very evil assistant manager who was a bully. One night about a 15 minutes before closing a customer came in for the last few pieces of chicken. As the bucket of chicken was handed to me, it all spilled to the floor in front of the customer. When I picked it up, and returned to the back to get more chicken, I was quietly, but angrily chastised and ordered to just take it back out and give it to the customer because the asst mgr wasn't staying here 30 min more just to cook another batch of chicken. Dumbfounded, I did as I was told to, but I felt terrible about it, and although I probably should have said no, I was young, and new at the job and no doubt would have lost a job that I really needed at the time. Hopefully Karma has caught up with my evil boss by now.

Parents ask for Ritalin -- to boost grades (ParentDish)

Sep 23rd 2006 2:38AM I am so sick and tired of people on their soap boxes making assumptions about ADHD, prescription drug usage etc, etc...pointing their fingers and making statements about things they don't have any idea about...Yes, my child has ADHD..and yes, he needs a drug to help him study, and yes he gets better grades because he can focus and behaves better than if he was without them...but that does not make these "drugs" evil or bad...would you stop giving your child insulin for his diabetes just because it is a "drug"?? People need to 'get over' the drug stigma and face the fact that we rely on doctors to determine when our children's or our bodies are not functioning as they should and need outside intervention with prescriptions to fill in the gaps...Maybe some of you nay sayers would feel better withholding your elderly parents heart medications because they are 'drugs' also...or how about your migraine medications etc...Again, there are no magic pills, and Ritalin won't make anyone's child smarter or actually raise an SAT score. Let the medications scientist invented do what they are intended to do, and if you are lucky enough that neither you, your children or your parents never need any kind of drug intervention...well it will be a miracle!
