To Boycott BP: Yes Or No? (AOL Autos - Translogic)

Jul 21st 2010 8:54PM Frankly, boycotting retail outlets make no business sense at all. The people who refer to themselves as social responsible, environmentally conscious, or green, seem to miss the point entirely. There is something called common sense that these people seem to thoroughly lack.

They get some half-baked idea in their heads, without thinking things through and decide that is the direction that they and everyone else needs to go. If people don't follow their lead, then they try to "educate" (read propoganda). Frankly, I prefer to not have the leftwing loonie leaflet of the day shoved into my face whenever I visit a BP station or similar target. The person doing the shoving may well eat that leaflet.

Well the rest of us will continue patronize BP, drive sensibly sized automobiles and our pickups, and we'll continue with our live and let live outlook on life. Finally, we all look forward to the day when commonsense again is the rule, rather than the exception in Washington, D.C.

Afghan Investigators Charge U.S. With Covering Up Botched Raid (Politics Daily)

Apr 5th 2010 10:36PM Afghan investigators, now that is an oxymoron if I've ever heard one. They're basing their allegations on hearsay and photos, neither of which are reliable. What were the autopsy results? Were those rounds from NATO weapontry or from AK47's? The Afghan army uses AK47s as well as the bad guys do.

I seriously doubt that this will go any farther than the tabloids. War, particularly counter-insurgency war is brutal. If you don't want to get killed, then get out of Dodge, simple as that.

Rev. Fred Phelps: 'God Hates Lady Gaga' (PopEater)

Dec 23rd 2009 10:20PM Fred Phelps is no more a man of God then Adolph Hitler. Unfortunately, this charleton is protected by the constitution. I'm not a Lady Gaga fan, but I frankly feel that these protests of his are more a function of a exceedingly narrow and busy little mind. Moreover the people who follow him appear to be a bunch of inbred trolls.

Report: Elin Wants Full Custody, Half of Everything Tiger Has (Fanhouse Backporch)

Dec 21st 2009 4:54PM First of all, what she will end up with depends upon the jurisdiction that she files for divorce in. They made their home in Florida, so I suspect that is where she'll file. Secondly, if the state is a community property state, then she'll get half of everything that is not covered by a pre-nuptual agreement. Anything that is covered, is subject to that agreement and it is a valid legal document.

Next, the children. Once again, it depends upon the state where she files. Moreover, it will usually end up as a joint custody arrangement.

Finally, it depends on how good each party's lawyer is.

Elin can want all she wants, what she actually ends up with is what the court actually decides.

Keep in mind it takes two to make a marriage work and 2 to make a marriage fail. Elin must bear some of the responsibility here. If she routinely ignored Tiger, routinely sniped at him, or routinely refused to honor their marital responsibilities, then she's partially to blame.

There is a reason that Tiger had been with other women - it meant that he was looking for something that he wasn't getting at home.

Having served in Europe for a number of years, there are some beautiful European women who are ice queens - its all about them and no one else is important. Now that is one sorry attitude!

No sale: GM's Saab deal falls apart after Swedish buyer pulls out (Daily Finance)

Nov 24th 2009 5:06PM Actually, GM sales are turning around. They make a quality product and it shows in the JD Powers surveys.

I certainly think that anyone who sees GM going by the wayside anytime soon, just doesn't have a strong grasp of the facts.

Sarah Palin on Oprah: She Was 'Unprofessional' In Couric Interview, Calls Levi 'Ricky Hollywood' (Politics Daily)

Nov 16th 2009 8:26PM Actually, Governor Palin is a pretty sharp cookie, certainly smarter then her detractors by at least half.
