Sep 14th 2007 3:59PM My understanding was that his mother (an anthropologist) exposed him to all types of religions so that he would have a thorough understanding of each, taking him to church on Easter and synagogues on Yom Kippur, visiting Shinto shrines and Hawaiian burial grounds, all kinds of different experiences. It wasn't until he was an adult that he chose to join in a church community, and because of the sense of community and social justice of the church, not for whatever political reasons. Not every aspect of a politician's life (I shudder to apply the word politician to Obama) is motivated by politics.

Aug 6th 2007 1:18PM Precisely HOW much money did they waste on this lttle expriment? This is millions of dollars that could very well have gone to finding a cure for AIDS or cancer or something else that actually MATTERS and here we are creating mutant jellyfish. Wow.
