Are Gen-X Parents Raising Spoiled Brats? {News Bloggers}
Dec 2nd 2007 4:55PM going way back to mouth piercing: mouth piercings can cause fatal fungal infections around the valves of the heart, they are really dangerous. Hair cuts and styles can come and go, tatooes- I don't think so, not unless I see the hygeine, hepatitis C isn't a great disease, dress - whatever. It's always good to have an MD or RN in the house to explain just plain dumb stuff to your kids (like smoking, drugs, ETOH, and unprotected sex)in a straight forward no nonsense way when they are really young (like 9 or 10, then keep adding to the stories), and if their friends want "in" on the convo, let 'em join right in - the more the merrier! Good info is always better than what they're guessing! Bad behavior, no way! Take stuff away: "screen" stuff, cell phones, car keys, computers (internet), lock them OUT OF THEIR ROOMS, have them LOOSE their privacy (heh, they HATE that)
95-Year-Old Granny Blogger Reminisces For All to See {Switched.com}
Nov 14th 2007 11:09PM When did all the hate and foul language become so commonplace? How did the 5th commandment become so trampled? (respect your father and mother = respect your elders)I'm a geriatric nurse. I love to hear stories from my residents. I miss my folks so much. My dad was born in l911, he had a 4 year old brother who was killed by the ice man's horse and buggy. Look how much has changed since the beginning of the 20th and 21st centuries! Maybe we were better off in a more genteel time when we were able to treat people with more respect and we respected ourselves, instead of rolling in the muck.
Want a Wii for Christmas? Get in Line. {Switched.com}
Nov 14th 2007 10:41PM my son won his on behavior points 4 months ago, I spent 5 days scouring the city of Chicago and suburbs for one, making several phone calls in the process. I finally found one 10 minutes after a shipment of 3 came into a gamestoppers and saved my life! PLEASE note - this was NOT any time NEAR the holidays!
GPS-Equipped School Uniform Allows Parents to Track Kids {Switched.com}
Oct 25th 2007 12:22PM We could just put one of those under the skin tracer devices we put into our pets, then we could keep track of our kids, our spouses, our wandering parents, our autistic kids who get lost in the woods, people like Steve Forbes, ourselves....
McDonald's sued in China for too much English {BloggingStocks}
Aug 5th 2007 11:51PM I'm sick of having to "hit 1" for English too, but it goes deeper for me. I'm a R.N. just finished a refresher course and trying to find a job. Thumb through the countless Nursing publications, not only do they want experience, but they want you to be fluently bilingual! OK, so I am, but my second language happens to be Hebrew, not Spanish, so it doesn't count. I'm 47, I'm NOT about to start learning Spanish at this time of my life, NOT after I just broke my head in an 8 week course of reliving 3 years of nursing school - it was NO picnic. I want to go into Hospice work, but now, I need to know Spanish, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED IN THE LAST 11 YEARS? WHAT DID I MISS WHILE I RAISED MY KIDS AND CARED FOR MY PARENTS UNTIL THEY DIED? America, SOS!!!
