What Noise-Canceling Headphones Should I Get? (Switched)

Feb 8th 2010 9:45AM As with anything speaker-related, I would recommend personal auditions. Bose has quite the reputation, but many people (including myself) think that is because of effective marketing, not actual science and quality.

If you listen to headphones, you will hear differences between certain brands. You need to hear YOUR music on the headphones to know whether or not you are getting the performance that you want.

I could sit here and tell you that Headphone A is the greatest sounding headphone in the history of history, and listening to it is the equivalent of a panda crapping a rainbow in your brain, but if after listening to it, YOU don't think so, then all of my hype means NOTHING.

Do yourself a favor, and before dropping a chunk of change - LISTEN.

And Richard - the Beats by Dre are made by Monster Cable, and they are being hawked pretty hard. I have heard them - impressive. But Monster Cable is probably the second worst company when it comes to marketing voodoo and overpriced stuff.

Sony's new MegaChanger and ES Blu-ray players in the flesh (Engadget)

Jul 26th 2009 11:35PM What everyone is missing is the potential distribution applications of this device.

Put it in the rack in your home, centrally located, and attach it to a video matrix switcher. Then, with a system like Control4, you have flawless cover art browsing and no need to change discs. It is robust, reliable, and does not require that you crack any sort of copy protection to use your Blurays.

It will also upconvert your DVDs, playback all CDs, and automatically scan itself when a new disc is inserted, going out to the internet through Control4 to get the cover art.

Sweet piece. Anyone who has owned the DVP-777ES can attest to how good they work.

Logitech Harmony Adapter for PlayStation 3 gets official (Engadget HD)

Mar 21st 2009 2:36AM A little late to the party, guys.

Audio Authority already came out with this - $200 - and it works with ANY universal remote system.

And the reason why someone would want this is if they are distributing the PS3 throughout the house as the BluRay player/game system, then having control over the system (including ON/OFF) with a system like Control4 or Crestron is a real benefit.
