Sep 7th 2010 11:54PM What else would you expect from a church headed by a man who in 2009 UNexcommunicated a Bishop Williamson, who is a holocaust denier / minimizer. Who said there were no gas chambers in Germany,and that only 200 or 300thousand Jews died in the holocaust

What else would you expect from a church that hid for decades if not centuries vile crimes against children. Because the rot obviously reaches all the way to the top.

MY only question is how do we reform or break the back of this church. While there are parts of it that are loving and kind, much of it - the hierarchy - lives in a stone age where absolutism makes them irrelevant, and evil.

And btw, long ago the church immediately excommunicated Martin Luther, for calling into question the absolute authority of the pope. And translating their bible into German.

The church is the perfect example of how power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

All good Catholics should cut off their donations to this church. And let the church face the ultimate crisis - move into the modern world, admits its hatred of gays, formerly of Jews, etc, and atone for its sins.

And bounce Pope B to a nursing home before he does any more damage to the institution.

BTW every person in America should be asking why the church has not yet EXcommunicated Hitler - born and baptised catholic in very Catholic Austria in 1888.

But wait until there is a new round of "protect your children" video clips from the catholic church.

The same church which all over the world has been found to be hiding and allowing to continue endless sexual abuse of children it is supposed to be protecting. Brazil, USA, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, Germany etc etc etc. Even the pope and hsi brother are implicated, no wonder.

Why did they hide it - because the priests bring in the money. No money no priests no church.

Why did it occur - because of Celibacy - per the very conservative Archbishop of Vienna, Schornborn (? sp) The latest scandal is the exposure of the priests being involved in openly gay relationships in Rome, which is exactly what they should be doing.

And why did the church end marriage for priests about 1200 AD - so the priests property would be inherited by the church.

Ita the old story - just follow the money. as if these creeps runnng the church think they can buy their way into heaven.

Dec 6th 2009 7:12PM Well, another great lie of the church has been exposed. They always have to have a victim to blame and hate, and this time it was the gays. Now proven to be another great lie.

And the great question is why the church hid these criminal priests from the law, let them continue their vile acts, and even transferred them to new locations so they could continue their crimes.

Only three possible reasons, probably all true. First, the church needed the money the priests brought in. Money was more important then stopping the molestation of children. Nice people, huh?

Second, the rot reaches all the way to the top. No wonder the church hid these ultimate crimes for decades, lest the hierarchy be exposed also.

Third, the reason it was mostly boys, and not girls has two answers. First, it makes better headlines when gay people are exposed in our society poisoned by the catholic church. Second, it is only in recent times that the church has had Alter Girls.

And this is also the church that gave the world the hatred of Jesus own people, the Jews. Which the Catholic Hitler leveraged to gain power in hate filled German society.

And 50 million died for the church of life.

Now headed by a Pope who un-exommunicated a Bishop Williamson. HE is a Holocaust denier. But by taking him back into the church, it gains income from his 600,000 followers.

Anybody who continues to contribute to this church should re-evaluate what Judgment will be for them when time no longer matters.

Sep 15th 2008 3:10AM I have several friends who work at cc. From what I am told, mgt has no idea how to manage a biz. The environment is run this way, no run that way. Fundamentally, very few people are coming in the door, simple as that. On busy days, they are doing 20 or 25% sales $$ vs the BB store down the street. And many of those who come in are just price and info shopping, with walmart etc as the next stop. And some of the stores look terrible, I know one which is referred to as the dungeon.

Of course, they canned all their good people in 3 or 4 massive waves of firing. Not to bright unless they thought that they could compete with Walmart, etc.

And they have a plan to get into furniture sales for home theaters. That is a tough business, takes up lots of floor space, and requires 3rd party contractors to deliver the products. It is a totally different business. The one store I was in had no options on what color choices etc the buyer could order. KInd of a take it or leave it deal.

And something else is afoot. I hear of multihour store meetings of all mgt types. It could be that they are going to try the trick of some other companies, and schedule people according to their productivity and, ignoring the people's needs, tell them when they MUST work. All this will do is get the sales force fighting among themselves, in front of the customer, for business. It won't be pretty, and the customers will walk out. It is like having a commission environment where the employees fight for customers, but the commission is negative, eg they will cut your hours, and schedule you at the deadest times of the deadest day if you aren't near the top of their charts. So it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy of destruction for the sales force, and more and more turnover will result. Not a great way to have knowledgeable employees. Nice huh. Maybe their real goal is to drive out a large number of of employees that way, without paying unemployment for them - just another of their purges. While the upper mgt sucks them dry.

And further more, I ran a quick estimate of how many people they need to get rid of in the stores, to become profitable. This was actually done for my business management class at college. The results, I admit with rough numbers, say that if they fired virtually every sales associate, non management / no supervisory employee, they would break even, vs their current $500 million /yr loss run rate. And that assumes that their sales didn't go down, and their gross profit margins on sales stayed the same. Fat chance. Especially when what I hear is that their most loyal customers, how few of them there are, come there for good cust. service vs the oxymoron of 'best buy', and the big box stores with no service.

So, in their present format, they appear to be dead. They are not #2 in the biz. They are number 4 most likely, behind BB, online internet purchases, and all the big box and other stores stealing off their biz. This includes, Sams/Walmart, Target / etc, and even IPOD dispensers I have seen in high end stores like Macy's etc.

And look at the high end products by comparison that the Apple stores sell. You can't find an apple computer in a cc store or on their on line site. Apple is a very successful, come back from the near dead, surprise, and they don't sell their PCs at CC, and their IPOD displays are mostly non-functional fakes - might as well be pictures. The obvious point is that Apple prob. sees CC as degrading the image of Apple as a premium product. How well BB is doing with Apple PCs is unknown.

Their firedog services group is too little too late. Lots of the employees are not certified microsoft employees. There is very large employee turnover. So there is a real problem with people knowing what to tell customers. And the same turnover problem is even worse amongst the sales associates. Some of the mgt actions suggest that mgt wants high turnover.

Fat chance CC can survive in their current format. I have little info on their 'CityStore; mini-stores, except that they expect the employees to cover all products in the store, not just eg TV, or computers. That is going to take more skilled and dedicated employees, yet they seem bent on having another purge.

I've heard that they are doing well with their on-line store. One advantage here that is seen as a brand name that is 'safe to do biz with online' for those who are afraid to buy from unknown distributors with their credit card online. But big business is far more then having just one strength.

It will take billions to rebuild the CC market image and their stores, if they can find a nitch to survive. And they certainly need to replace their upper level , hear no evil, see no evil, dictatorial management. The stock is at $1.70, and various rating services say it is overpriced, one even saying it is worth $0 . And in a low gross margin biz like retailing (they may be making about 18% GM, not sure - before they begin to pay employees, the electric and lease bills, etc.) who is going to invest in them. Especially in a faltering economy?

Next year, in grad school, I expect I'll get to do a project on how their mgt took them from #1, with BB near bankruptcy 10 yrs ago, to the sorry state they are in. Maybe this is a leadin for me to get into forensic accounting, no pun intended.

Circuit City losing big time to Best Buy (BloggingStocks)

Dec 30th 2007 1:12AM I have friends who work at circuit city. Yes, they say it is a "run this way, no run that way" environment. In the store I know best, there has been 90% turnover since June, and almost everyone working there are kids, e.g. my friends supervisor is 19 years old. And their newest game is they hound their employees whenever someone is talking to another, even if there isn't a customer within the store. Of course the employees get even, and laugh about it once they are out the door each day, for there are so many ways to subtly kill a sale, or fail to close a sale. The stock is toast, it's under $5, a far cry from what was offered for the co. last year in a buyout - $17. Why, cuz the mgt thought they could rape their employees emotionally and the company's coffers financially. And when someone tells you that they are doing well to budgets, this store had a 20+% budget decrease from a year ago. As another example, there are a large number of incorrectly tagged items, because the new kids don't understand the differences between subtly different products. Great way to build distrust within the customer base. And for the kids, it is a great training ground to learn about selling, put some money in their pockets for pursuit of the opposite sex, and learn how to not run a biz. We shall see, but it doesn't look good.

Thousands of gay kids commit suicide every year due to bullying and similar actions by ignorant bigotted people. It is just plain murder, often in the name of God.

It took the civil war to end slavery, and another hundred years and the civil rights movements for black americans to end the defacto slavery of segregation. Now, we are just on the next phase of trying to create what any impartial observer would call civilization.

Most gays know they are gay, or possibly bi by the time they are teenagers, and the signs are often there by 9 or 10.

I can't immagine how gay people hurt me, or my 40 year long marriage, btw in Massachusetts. Gays are just another victim of irrational hatred by those who don't know any gays, but who subscribe to always having to have someone to hate or ridicule. Some of these people are religious extremists who would do well with our extremist muslim friends, except they would find themselves as Christians hearing Allahu Akhbar (God is Great) in the moment before their head is severed for being an infidel). Others are those, e.g. think of that gay bashing minister Ted Haggard who had his fun with a male prostitute. He is just an example of someone terribly conflicted between his gay emotions, and his religious hatetred, so he reflects this hatred out on his own sociological group as if this helps 'cleanse him' of his problems. And then there are just the plain old ignoranti, who can't seem to remember something about judge not lest ye be judged.

Just face it - there are something like 5% of the population who are just plain gay, and some unknown percent who are bisexual. They deserve to be treated equally under our laws, and equally in society, for we are all God's children
