Of Mark Sanchez and the Pratfalls of Teenaged Romance (Fanhouse NFL Blog)

Feb 9th 2011 6:16PM It baffles me that people continue to bash Sanchez for something that was LEGAL. Whether you agree with the age of consent being 17 or 16(in NJ) the fact of the matter is that besides social backlash nothing can be held against him. People have commented saying he needs to keep it in his pants, which further stereotypes athletes these days. I truly wonder if anyone commenting on his sexual endeavors has examined the modern sex life of the American population. Is this act something to be idealized by younger kids? No, however the fact of the matter is that the sexual relationship(regardless of conduct) was legal and very prevalent throughout our culture regardless of whether the person is an athlete, role model or even a peer.

Lazy Florida Schools Replace Teachers With Computers (Switched)

Jan 19th 2011 5:33PM Sadly it seems that the education system has lost its mind. If people honestly believe that students in high school do not need the guidance of a teacher then we have failed our students. As teachers know it is not just about the material in the class rather the human interactions between students and teachers that truly engage unmotivated students. It has been shown before that computers often distract students and can actually lower grades when used frequently. Do we actually think that a single "facilitator" in a classroom can watch 40 students at a time and successfully keep them from being distracted? Technology has its place in the classroom as we train our future generations but the lack of human interaction in education leads me to wonder what the lasting effects will be on these students when they are forced into large classes in college and must professionally interact with a professor.

Junie B. Jones and the case for spelling, grammar (ParentDish)

Aug 1st 2007 3:35PM I think as long as a child is taught that her style of writing is not how they should write then they should be fine. I grew up and read those books when I was younger. I use "AIM speak" and my writing, though somewhat lacking in proper phonics on the internet, is landing me A's in AP writing classes and high scores SAT's. They shouldn't be banned. However, they should be read with the knowledge of grammatical errors. Let kids read them for fun! If they get a child to read who doesn't like to read then that is a step in a positive direction. I read cooks meant for all different ages and there are sentence fragements and other things looked down upon. One must simply understand that that is the style the writer has chosen to write in so that they may install the correct tone, mood, and purpose. So Junie B. Jones uses her style and writes for a younger generation. Does that mean that her book she be banned? If so, ban the books for teens and adults which use sentence fragments. Who is to say children reading a book have any better grammer than the adult reading a book for their age group.

Don't ban this book! Use the power of being a parent and stop your own child from reading the book if you feel it to be so wrong. Why ban other children who could benefit from reading a book that is written more like how we speak?
